If there isn't any coating over the decal, you can try this method.
- Get a paper towel and fold it to fit the size of the decal.
- soak it with warm water with a little vinegar.
- Let the soaked towel sit on top of the decal for about an hour.
- Dry off any excess water/vinegar.
- Remove the loosened decal with painters tape. (
There are several ways, any of which might work, or none might.
- Scrape off with a fingernail.
- Soak off in water.
- Apply tape over, and yank it off.
- A decal setting solution, or rubbing alcohol might do it, but test on the paint first, as these can damage some kinds of paint.
- Wet-sand and then polish it off.
Unlike usual stickers, decals must be dipped in tepid water to remove them from the backing sheet.
If there are stubborn creases or air bubbles that won't flatten, carefully prick them with a pin or the point of your hobby knife and apply Microsol to the decal. You can repeat this as many times as required until the decal is completely flat, allowing it to dry fully between each coat.
When you add decals to your motorcycle or other vehicle as décor, you will want to add a clear coat over the top of the decal. Clear coating helps to protect the decal from peeling, cracking or sustaining other damage from exposure to the elements.
If you are applying a waterslide decal, apply a thin coat of epoxy at the decal area and let it cure. The next day, apply the waterslide decal and let it throughly dry. Then apply the remaining coats of epoxy as needed.
Place your decal, make sure there are no water or decal setter solution bubbles. Once it starts to dry, apply a very light coat of Humbrol DecalFix over your decal. Let everything dry about an hour then apply a light coat of flat clear. Typically this means applying a coat of clear gloss to the model.
