2K Sports has announced that it has shut down the online servers for NBA 2K16 already. Any other 2K Sports game is offline forever now. Since NBA 2K is an annual franchise, servers are only kept up for around two years or so. It's to mainly force players to migrate to play/buy the newer games each and every year.
You have to use offline SP instead. Which means VC you earn outside of my career you will never be able to use on your MyCareer save. Also you will never be able to move your offline save to online so no MyPark or 2k Pro-AM. And you can't buy SP if you ever wanted to like you can VC.
