Accessing the router's web-based setup page
- Launch a web browser.
- Enter "https://router" or the router's default IP address, 192.168.
- You will be asked to log in using the router's admin password. If you have not set a custom password, just leave the Password field blank then click Submit.
General Belkin Router Configuration
- Visit the router's IP address () in a new browser window.
- Click on DNS under Internet WAN.
- Enter the router's password and click Submit.
- Uncheck Automatic from ISP and type in OpenDNS addresses in DNS Address and Secondary DNS Address.
- Click Apply Changes.
Not all Belkin routers use the same login information so you might have to try a few before you can get in. Try these: Default usernames: admin, Admin, [blank] Default passwords: admin, password, [blank]
- Launch a web browser such as Internet Explorer® or Safari® and enter the IP address of your Belkin router in the Address bar and then, press [Enter].
- When the router's Welcome page appears, click dashboard ».
- Click Advanced Settings.
- Under WAN Settings, click ISP Connection Type.
NOTE: The default IP Address of a Belkin router is 192.168. 2.1.
All you need is
the latest version of
the Google Home or Google
WiFi app on
your Android device or iPhone.
With the Google WiFi app, there are a couple more steps:
- Tap the Settings tab, and choose "Network & general."
- Select "Network" and tap your WiFi points.
- Choose "Network device settings," and select your device.
Connect the modem to your Belkin router using an Ethernet cable. The Ethernet cable must be plugged into an open Ethernet port on your modem, and into the port on your Belkin router labeled “WAN / Internet.” Reconnect your Internet modem to its power supply. Plug in the Belkin router to its power supply.
- Launch a web browser, enter 192.168.
- After selecting the firmware file, click Update.
- You will be prompted to continue with the upgrade.
- A prompt that advises you NOT to turn off or reboot the router at the end of the upgrade will appear.
- Once the update is complete, you will be prompted to wait for few seconds.
Once you reset the router, the settings will be reverted to its factory defaults. All of the customized settings of the router (Wi-Fi name (SSID), wireless security, etc.) will be erased. IMPORTANT: If you want to restore the router's original settings without re-configuring it, you have to save a backup file.
It might also be a good idea to upgrade your router's firmware and see if that fixes the problem. A factory reset is a good idea if you're selling or disposing of your router. This way, whoever gets your router next can start fresh, without seeing any of your personal information (like your Wi-Fi passphrase.)
Scenario #1: Rebooting a separate modem and router
- Locate your modem and router.
- Unplug both the modem and router.
- Leave both devices unplugged for at least 30 seconds.
- Plug the power back into your modem ONLY.
- Plug in the router and wait, at minimum, two full minutes.
- Test things out.
The reset button is almost always on the back or underside of a router. The most universal way to reset a router, however, is via the reset button, usually found on the router's back or underside. This button is almost always recessed but you should be able to access it with a straightened-out paper clip.
If you own a WiFi router, you know the drill. When the internet goes down at home, you unplug the device, wait an excruciating minute, and plug it back in. And, when your router doesn't catch on to that change, the network connection gets out of sync. That's when a quick reboot of your router can set things straight.
Resetting your router can fix a myriad of issues and an inability to connect is one of them. Press the reset button on the back of the router with a paperclip for 30 seconds and the router should default to factory settings. Instead, this is how to reboot your wireless router:
- Unplug your router or modem from its power outlet (don't just turn it off).
- Wait 15-20 seconds, then plug it back in.
- Allow the device a minute or two to turn back on.
There is no exact answer to this question, although experts recommend resetting your router every couple of months, even if you experience no internet downtime. A reboot can fix internet connectivity issues, fix slow connections, and is one of the major troubleshooting options available to you at home.
Open Settings > Network & Internet > Status.Click Network reset > Reset now to remove all network adapters and return your network settings to the default settings. This means you'll need to set it up all over again, but it could help restore your internet connection.
Unplug the modem, the router and the computer (in that order) from their respective power outlets then wait for 30 seconds before plugging them back. If you still don't have internet, connect your computer directly to the modem and check if you can go online.
Look for the Reset button of your router. While the router is powered ON, press and hold the Reset button for 15 seconds. Step 2: Wait for at least one minute for the router to restart.
Blinking Orange LightWhen the orange light on your Belkin router is blinking it means that your router is unable to detect the mode. The possible reasons for that are: The modem is turned off. The modem isn't connected to the router with a cable.
When the router is powered ON, press and hold the reset button for at least 5 seconds. The lights on the router will then flash and begin to blink. Wait until the light becomes solid again to complete the reset process.
Using the reset buttonWhile the range extender is powered ON, press and hold the reset button (at the right side of your range extender) for 10 seconds. The light on the range extender will blink. When the light becomes solid, the range extender's factory default settings have been restored.
- On you iPhone/iPad, tap Settings then tap Wi-Fi.
- Tap your wireless network name (SSID) and enter your wireless password.
- Tap Join.
- On your web browser, enter “192.168.
- On the Let's connect to the Internet page, tap Detect my connection.
- Once the connection is established, enter your preferred Network Name and Password.
How to change the wireless network name (SSID) and password of the Belkin F5D7234-4 router
- Launch a web browser like Internet Explorer®.
- Click Channel and SSID under Wireless.
- Enter your preferred wireless network name in the SSID field.
- Click .
- Click Security under Wireless.
Press and hold the “Reset” button for at least 5 seconds, and then release it. The lights on the Router will momentarily flash. The “Router” light will begin to blink. When the “Router” light becomes solid again, the restore is complete.
By default, the login password of your Belkin router is 'Admin' and if it is not working on your router, then you might have forgotten it or someone else has changed it. For Belkin routers, then login password is required to go to the web-interface page of it.
