AMD's New Ryzen Chipset Drivers Boost Gaming Performance & Power Efficiency. AMD has just released a new set of chipset drivers for Ryzen that promises to improve performance and power efficiency through clever Ryzen specific optimizations to Windows 10's power management and scheduler.
Windows software RAID, however, can be absolutely awful on a system drive. Never ever use windows RAID on a system drive. It will often be in a continuous rebuild loop, for no good reason. It is generally fine, however, to use Windows software RAID on simple storage.
no, not so much. Thing is, it would be wiser to go with a motherboard that utilizes the DDR4 memory b/c you can use that in a future build, where as going with DDR3 memory will limit you down the road.
Chipset drivers have a significant impact on the communication between different components including the hard drives, system memory, etc. The outdated chipset drivers will slow down your system performance. So, it's crucial to update motherboard drivers for better system performance.
It is recommended only to use Windows Programs and Features to uninstall AMD Ryzen chipset drivers. Attempting to remove any chipset driver components using Device Manager or third-party driver removal software will have undesirable effects on the system.
NOTE: RAID Drivers will never be uninstalled by AMD RAID Software Installer, since it is a Boot Critical driver, uninstallation can lead to system failure.

If you are using a SATA SSD drive, AHCI may be more suitable than RAID. If you are using multiple hard drives, RAID is a better choice than AHCI. If you want to use an SSD plus extra HHDs under RAID mode, it's recommended that you continue using RAID mode.
Configuring RAID in Windows 10
- Type or paste 'Storage Spaces' into Search Windows.
- Select Create a new pool and storage space.
- Select the RAID type under Resiliency by selecting the drop down menu.
- Set the drive size under Size if necessary.
- Select Create storage space.
RAID mode allows several hard disk drives to function as one storage area (the array) to provide either data redundancy (backup security) or faster performance (striped reading/writing data from or to the disk drives). note: HP recommends setting the SATA Controller Mode BEFORE installing the operating system.
Re: Installing SATA RAID driver to existing Windows 10 when not in RAID mode
- Clone your OS to an NVMe drive.
- Turn on RAID mode in BIOS.
- Boot the OS and install the drivers for all of the missing devices via Device Manager (It will require all of the SATA only RAID driver files mentioned in the above post)

- Rick click on the "computer" icon on the desktop or the computer item in the Start Menu.
- Select Manage.
- Expand Storage.
- Click on Disk Management.
- In the bottom center pane you'll see Disk 0, Disk 1, etc.
- On the left column under the Disk number you'll see the word Basic or Dynamic.
Open AMD Radeon Settings - Right click on your desktop and select AMD Radeon Settings. Click on System to access the system overview, software and hardware details. Select the Software tab for detailed information about the installed graphics driver.
RAID stands for redundant array of independent disks. A RAID card manages a PC's hard disk drives or solid-state drives (SSDs) so that they work together and drive redundancy and/or performance. It can be hardware (a RAID card) or software.
It is used primarily to allow for NVMe RAID with NVMe SSDs on the CPU side of the motherboard. VROC allows NVMe SSDs to access formidable speeds (up to double their already fast speeds) in a bootable format. Unfortunately, VROC only supports Intel SSDs at this times, so you cannot use VROC to setup RAID with Samsung M.
Installation of RAID driver with PERC Array
- Set up the desired RAID array in the RAID BIOS.
- Download the correct Pre-OS driver from our support site and have it extracted.
- Load the extracted files onto a USB key.
- Once the files are extracted, proceed with the installation of Windows as normal.
Press F6 if you need to install a third party SCSI or RAID driver. The message displays during text-mode phase at the beginning of Windows XP* setup.
There are two ways for you to update the Intel RAID driver, and you can choose one you prefer.
Option 1 – Download and install the driver manually
- Go to Intel's download center.
- Type raid controller in the search box, and press Enter.
- Select your operating system.
- Click the driver you need and download it.
RAID 10, also known as RAID 1+0, is a RAID configuration that combines disk mirroring and disk striping to protect data. It requires a minimum of four disks and stripes data across mirrored pairs. As long as one disk in each mirrored pair is functional, data can be retrieved.
If it didn't, go to the Standard SATA AHCI Controller to "Properties" and click on Update Driver. Direct it under search to the C:\AMD Chipset folder in the Root Directory. Hit enter and it should update the SATA Controller to AMD SATA.
If your operating system is already installed, you can use RAID if the following requirements are met: Your system has a RAID I/O controller hub (ICH). If your system does not have a RAID ICH, you cannot use RAID without installing a third-party RAID controller card. Your RAID controller is enabled.
The RAID option must be enabled in the BIOS before the system can load the RAID option ROM code.
- Press F2 during startup to enter the BIOS setup.
- To enable RAID, use one of the following methods, depending on your board model. Go to Configuration > SATA Drives, set Chipset SATA Mode to RAID.
- Press F10 to save and exit.
RAID works on NVMe SSDs just like it did on previous storage devices. Linux mdadm supports NVMe RAID and has enhancements to improve reliability, performance, and scalability. There are independent hardware vendors that support NVMe based RAID cards for hardware acceleration as well.
RAID ("Redundant Array of Inexpensive Disks" or "Redundant Array of Independent Disks") is a data storage virtualization technology that combines multiple physical disk drive components into one or more logical units for the purposes of data redundancy, performance improvement, or both.
Like all previous NVMe RAID implementations and almost all motherboard RAID implementations for SATA drives, AMD's NVMe RAID for Ryzen Threadripper is at heart a software RAID system. That means it needs new drivers for the OS, and matching support in the motherboard's UEFI to enable booting from a RAID array.
Chipset types will determine how many SATA ports are on a motherboard and these also don't affect gaming performance at all but if you have a ton of games in your library then you'll need more SATA ports to install multiple hard drives to your PC.
CPU drivers don't need to be installed or updated manually. If you're planning to update your base system (CPU and motherboard) then you should reimage your machine either way so you don't have to worry about anything.

AMD's Ryzen Master gives users advanced, real-time controls over their system's performance. The software allows users to tweak everything from individual cores to memory voltages and pretty much everything in between. That means anything before AM4 will not be compatible with this software.
We downloaded the driver on our own system running an AMD Ryzen 7 1800X and X370 motherboard, and it installed without any problems. It did take about 30 seconds for the progress bar to advance from 0%, but once it got going we experienced no issues. You can download the 64-bit Windows 10 AMD chipset driver 2.03.
