According to Apple, it's not possible to charge your Airpods without the case or charger.
The problem may be related to the sensors inside the AirPods that determine whether or not they're in your ears, or to the microphones; or it could be down to Bluetooth interference. Whatever the reason, hopefully one of our audio fixes below will solve the AirPod disconnection problem for you.
Best Answer: Yes. As per the product overview the charging case works with all generations of the AirPods. Flag as inappropriate.
“Does these AirPods come with the charging cord and brick”A USB charging cord is included. However, Apple does not provide an AC adapter. They come with a cord but not a brick.
The case is only used for charging/storage and the initial (one time) pairing with your devices. You can leave the case at home and get full usage out of the AirPods until the battery dies.
It seems like if the case dies while the AirPods are docked, they're unable to tell the they've been removed and keep the BT antennas inactive. It's odd, but from what I've seen the case will never discharge itself entirely to charge the AirPods, attempting to keep a small portion reserved for itself.
The Pro models do more, so the battery life is actually shorter than for the non-pro versions. According to Apple they should last for approximately 3.5 hrs of talk, 4.5 hrs of music listening, on a full 100% charge. If you do the math, the remaining 20% of charge will take you to at least 4.4 hrs.
Lithium-ion batteries are known to deteriorate over time. But because of the small battery size, and frequent charging with the case, this process is sped up for the AirPods. After as soon as a year and a half, the AirPods battery can deteriorate to unusable levels. But not all is lost.
They also do not overcharge. When your AirPods are out of the case they use battery even if you are not using them. When you charge your AirPods with charging case, you'll get the best, fastest results by using an iPhone or iPad USB charger or plugging into your Mac.
They are designed to ensure the li-ion battery still has a charge in order for them to take a charge from the relatively inexpensive chargers that come with them. So with that said, no you do not need to allow them to die all the way.
AirPods use their own battery. They are completely separate from your phones battery. Having 5 hours of listening time doesn't mean much if using bluetooth drains the phone's battery in 2 hours.
If you're looking for a single replacement AirPod, it's going to cost you $69. A replacement charging and case will also cost you $69.
Answer: A: No. The case is designed to be opened and closed. It should go without saying that you shouldn't force it open beyond the intended range of the hinge.
Apple says a pair of AirPods should last around five hours if you're playing music, or around two hours of talk time, before needing to be recharged. The charging case should be good for around 24 hours, or 11 hours of talk time. If you're seeing times significantly lower than this, your AirPods may be faulty.
