MLB Extra Innings and MLB.TV are different services. MLB Extra Innings is an add-on package available through cable and satellite providers (but no livestreaming TV services as of yet) that carries both in- and out-of-market MLB games. MLB.TV is a standalone streaming service that carries only out-of-market games.

At $130 for the year, MLB.TV is too pricey for casual fans but certainly worth it for serious baseball geeks who live outside their team's home market. For fans of the local team -- say a Red Sox fan living in New England, a Dodgers fan in LA -- subscribing to MLB.TV makes little sense.
