With the silence growing stronger, Kaoru realizes that Kenshin has died quietly in her arms.

Samurai X has the original title Rurouni Kenshin is a manga and anime work of Nobuhiro Watsuki who belongs to the begining of the Meiji era in Japan. It turns out the story of Samurai X is taken from a true story in Japan. In fact almost all the characters are drawn from ancient Japanese historical figures.
Tormented by his past as a hitokiri, Kenshin has developed an acute appreciation for life and has taken a vow in his heart to never again kill another person and to do everything within his power to protect people from being killed.

Rurouni Kenshin: Meiji Swordsman Romantic Story (Japanese: ?????? -???? ? ? ? ?? ?-, Hepburn: Rurōni Kenshin -Meiji Kenkaku Romantan-), also known sometimes as Samurai X in the TV show, is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Nobuhiro Watsuki.
Great series. The best way to watch it is episodes 1-62, then watch the Trust & Betrayal OVAs (or the movie version, either way is good). After that, do not watch anything else, go straight for the final "Revenge" arc of the manga. Do NOT watch the horrible Reflection/Requiem OVAs, do not pass Go.
The reason the Jinchuu arc was never adapted was because season 3 had bad ratings and the show was cancelled. They adapted parts of the Jinchuu story into OVAs: Trust and Betrayal is a really good adaptation of the Remembrance/flashback chapters.
Rurouni Kenshin started out good. A nice premise, a likeable yet mysterious main character, a little romance, some cute little side characters to keep the story going. The mangaka made a few mistakes. The story was a bit wobbly and unsatisfying.

Referring Wikipedia, there were two OVAs. Rurouni Kenshin: Trust & Betrayal seems canon without controversy. Rurouni Kenshin: Reflection was declared non-canon by the author, but I guess it was sourced from canon.
This is one of the few anime that the dub is mightier then the sub. very few anime is the dub greater then the sub however this is such a case. I personally can not stand Kenshin's voice in the subs. Subbed is better.
