IISER is a great platform to pursue science and better than IITs to become a scientist. You will get exposed to all sorts of research and then you can choose your major in 3rd year. You can excel as a scientist as IISERs are best in india in research education (IISc is an exception).

The minimum level of education required for college professors is a master's degree, which can qualify an individual for work as a professor at a community college. A doctoral degree is typically required to work as a full-time, tenure-track university professor.
Overall, it's extremely difficult to become a professor. Nowadays, there are many more qualified applicants than there are full-time, college-level teaching positions, making tenure-track jobs in particular highly competitive.
Rewarding. The main reason for becoming a university lecturer is that it can be an incredibly rewarding job. You can talk about a subject that you genuinely enjoy. You get to see young people's love of their subject increase, their academic performance improve and you can guide them in their choice of future career.
