On certain Fitbit devices, check Fitbit Today to see your sleep score on your wrist. Check your sleep tile to see your sleep score. You may have to swipe up to find it. If you don't see the sleep tile on Fitbit Ionic or Fitbit Versa series, tap Settings at the bottom of Fitbit Today and select the sleep tile.
Fitbit Charge 4The Charge 4 also offers the best of the Fitbit sleep tracking experience, and has the same feature set as the Versa 3, including SpO2 blood oxygen monitoring. The only real difference is the form factor. You get Fitbit Sleep Stages, giving you a more in-depth look at your sleep.
Many modern CPAP machines now include sleep tracking functions, but that only helps if you've already been diagnosed with sleep apnea. However, wrist trackers such as Fitbit or the Apple Watch may be able to clue you in on your sleep quality and even track sleep apnea.
Tips for better sleep
- Put yourself on a bedtime schedule where you go to sleep and wake up at the same time each day.
- Get plenty of exercise.
- Stick to water and other decaffeinated drinks before bed.
- Create a bedtime routine to unwind from the day, like reading a book or taking a bath.

To add or hide stat tiles:
- On the Today tab , tap Edit.
- To add a stat tile, swipe down and find the stat you want to add > tap Add.
- Tap Done.
Fitbit estimates your sleep stages using a combination of your movement and heart-rate patterns. When you haven't moved for about an hour, your tracker or watch assumes that you're asleep.
1 Sync Fitbit to an iPhone, iPad, Android Phone or Tablet

- After launching the app, the Fitbit app dashboard will appear. Tap the Account icon.
- Then, select your Fitbit.
- Ensure that the All-Day Sync toggle is in the ON position.
The Fitbit uses a 3-axis accelerometer that can track the number of steps taken, in addition to a few other features such as distance traveled, calories burned, and number of floors climbed. An accelerometer is an electromechanical device that measures acceleration forces.
On average you'll go through 3-5 REM cycles per night, with each episode getting longer as the night progresses. The final one may last roughly an hour. For healthy adults, spending 20-25% of your time asleep in the REM stage is a good goal. If you get 7-8 hours of sleep, around 90 minutes of that should be REM.

“Each cycle lasts, on average, 90 minutes,” says Grandner, “but some cycles can be as short as 50 minutes and some can be as long as 100 minutes or more.” Here, according to Grandner, is how it works: Cycle 1: During light sleep you'll dip into stage one and transition into stage two.
A sleep score of 75 or higher is considered good; a consistent score of 80 or higher is an excellent goal. Simply put, the best thing you can do to improve your sleep score is get more sleep. With more total sleep you will typically get more deep and REM sleep, which will also contribute to improving your sleep score.
Sleep Cycle is accurate at tracking the consistency of your sleep schedule. It's similar to documenting your sleep patterns with a sleep diary and monitoring it with an actigraph. At a cost of 99 cents, though, it's much less expensive than actigraphy.
Most sleep trackers measure sleep quantity and quality by using accelerometers, small motion detectors. Accelerometers measure how much movement you're making while you sleep. This data is then analyzed using an algorithm to estimate sleep time and quality.
Scientists agree that sleep is essential to health, and while stages 1 to 4 and REM sleep are all important, deep sleep is the most essential of all for feeling rested and staying healthy. The average healthy adult gets roughly 1 to 2 hours of deep sleep per 8 hours of nightly sleep.
The Fitbit Charge HR was accurate 84 percent of the time, and the Basis Peak was accurate 83 percent of the time. The researchers found that the harder someone exercised, the less accurate the trackers were. Fitbit tended to underestimate the heart rate, while the Basis overestimated it.
Feehan's study also found that the devices counted steps with an acceptable accuracy overall only about a third to one half the time. In the lab, when subjects jogged or walked normally, the devices undercounted steps 50 percent of the time, compared with observed steps.
