AT&T is rebranding DirecTV Now as AT&T TV Now. AT&T TV is a streaming service from, well, AT&T. It will offer live TV and "55,000 on-demand titles" plus the ability to record "500 hours" on a "cloud" DVR, though the recordings will be deleted after 90 days.
Access to local networks depends on licensing agreements between AT&T TVSM, AT&T TV NOWSM, and local market carriers – wherever you happen to be. Local, regional, and national providers hold the broadcast rights to these channels. Remember to enable location services on your mobile device so you can stream.
The AT&T TV device is 4K and HDR capable, but there are no 4K AT&T TV channels yet. However, you can stream 4K and HDR content with the AT&T TV set-top box from services like Netflix, provided you install the app and have a compatible Netflix subscription.

Upgrade TV Packages with Account Manager on U-verse TV
- Select Menu on your remote.
- Select Help.
- Scroll to select Account > Account Manager > TV Services.
- From the TV Services menu, select Upgrade Core Pkg.
- Select and upgrade your TV channels or compare packages.
- Confirm your order on screen.

Add apps to your AT&T TV device
- Press the APPS or Diamond button on your AT&T TV remote.
- Go to the Google PlayTM store.
- Sign in to your Google account. If you're already signed in, you won't have to do it again.
- Search for the app you want and download it.
Use a device to add premium channel packages
- Go to Change Your TV Service.
- Select Change Plan > Channel add-ons.
- Review Premium/Movie Channels, Sports and International options.
- Select Add next to the channel or package you want to add and then Continue.
- Review your changes and Submit order.
Premium channelsAfter signing your one-year contract, you'll get three months of HBO and CINEMAX at no additional cost. Beyond that, pricing is pretty standard at $26 per month for both. If you just need HBO, we'd recommend getting the standalone HBO NOW streaming service for $15 a month.
What does AT&T TV include? AT&T TV brings together a great selection of live TV channels such as news and top sports networks, including live national, regional, and local sports channels. It also gives you access to Premium channels, including HBO, Starz, Cinemax, EPIX, and a premier sports package.

- Go to your myAT&T account overview.
- Under My service, find AT&T TVSM and select Manage Package.
- Select Submit to confirm changes.
With 720p video, you get 720 lines of horizontal resolution in each frame. With 1080i video, you only get half of 1,080 lines of resolution (meaning 540) in each frame. Choosing a progressive resolution like 720p will look a lot nicer.
Never, Uverse does not have the bandwidth to carry 4k, even over the fiber service. This was a major selling point in the merger with Directv. Currently Directv offers 100 live channels of 4k streaming with more to come along with movies and other services. Ignore what others say about Uverse being phased out.
Below are the steps on how to change the aspect ratio of your box:
- Please press the menu button of your remote control and press ok.
- Use the right arrow to look for options.
- Scroll down to system options and press ok.
- Choose aspect ratio and press ok.
Press Menu on your U-verse TV remote control. Scroll down to Options then press OK. Select System and scroll right to TV Screen Resolution then press OK. Select one of the settings, depending on your TV capability.
