Type ipconfig in the command prompt and press Enter to run the command. Scroll until you see a setting for Default Gateway under Ethernet or Wi-Fi. That's your router, and the number next to it is your router's IP address. Now type your router's IP address in your browser's address field and press Enter.
BT Broadband connection problems
- Check your service status.

You must always plug your Hub into the broadband connection on your master socket. If you plug it into a phone socket or extension, it just won't work.
The modem is the basic building block of a broadband connection that gets the data in and out of your phone line. In the BT Smart Hubs and BT Home Hubs, it's combined with a router, a security firewall, an Ethernet switch, a Wi-Fi hotspot and a USB hub to give you a complete home network.

The BT Home Hub 3 and 4 have Ethernet ports so you can connect via Ethernet. The Smart Hub 2 also has a USB port which you can use to charge phones or tablets.
How to find the IP address of your router using Windows
- Right-click the Windows icon in the bottom-left of your screen, and select "Command Prompt."
- In the Command Prompt window, type "IPCONFIG" and press Enter.
- Find the "Default Gateway" section. The number listed here is your router's IP address.
To find the IP address on Windows 10, without using the command prompt: Click the Start icon and select Settings. Click the Network & Internet icon. To view the IP address of a wired connection, select Ethernet on the left menu pane and select your network connection, your IP address will appear next to "IPv4 Address".

- Open up your web browser and type 192.168.1.254 to access the home page of your hub.

- Select the LAN tab.
- Click on Private Network.
- You can now configure your local IP range.

How do I restart my BT Hub?
- Press the Power (On/Off) button on the back of the Hub.
- Confirm all lights on the front of the Hub are off.
- Leave for 10 seconds.

BT Home Hub 6 Login Guide
- Open your web browser (e.g. Chrome, Firefox, Opera or any other browser)
- Type 192.168. 254.1 (the default IP to access the admin interface) in the address bar of your internet browser to access the router's web-based user interface.
- The default username for your BT Home Hub 6 is (blank).
- Find the recessed "Reset" pinhole button on the back of your Hub.
- Using a paper clip or similar press the button and hold for 20 seconds. Your Hub lights will go out and your Hub will restart.
- Wait a few minutes for the Hub lights to settle. The central Power light will go blue and the Broadband light will be off.
BT Smart Hub and Ultrafast Smart Hub
- Open a new web browser on your connected device and type 192.168.1.254 into the address bar. This will open the Hub Manager.
- Click My devices.
- You'll see all the devices connected to your BT Smart Hub either now or previously, both via wireless and wired connections.
The BT Smart Hub allows you to tune your wireless features to give you the best performance with all your wireless devices. Your BT Smart Hub is automatically set to Mode 1.
How do I change the wi-fi channel on my BT Hub
- Open a new web browser on a device connected to your Hub and type 192.168.1.254 in the address bar.
- Click Advanced Settings.
- Click Wireless.
- Enter the admin password.
- To choose a specific wireless channel, you need to split your wireless bands.
- With the wireless bands split, you can now customise your wireless settings.
To change your WiFi password or network name:
- Launch a web browser from a computer or mobile device that is connected to your router's network.
- Enter
- Enter the router admin user name and password.
- Select Settings > Wireless Setup.
- Enter your new network name in the Name (SSID) field.
For Android devices, tap the menu icon in the upper-left corner of the screen, then tap Internet. Tap the Wireless Gateway. Select "Change WiFi Settings." Enter your new network name and password.
@If you are connecting a router the username is (it can actually be anything you want prior to @btinternet.com) you do not need a password unless your router asks for one in which case you can make it anything you want.

The BT Business Hubs all have labels with this information. On the Hub 5 you'll find the network name (SSID) and wireless key on the Hub settings card on the back. This, and other information, is also displayed on a label underneath the Hub.
