As a child gets older, it affects both the players and the parents. At 4 years old, it's probably OK if your child wants to quit T-ball. But if you have a 12-year-old coach potato, sports can be a great way to get them up, active and interacting with other kids their age.

The five most important basic rules in baseball are balls and strikes, tagging up, force outs, tag outs, and nine players allowed in the lineup.
Tee-ball is played with a safety ball, like this one. It has a sponge rubber center, so it won't hurt like a standard baseball if your child happens to catch a bad hop or get hit with an errant throw.
A safety (or double) base is recommended for both softball and T-ball. Players who coach in the first and third base coach boxes must wear a two eared helmet. In T-ball, the umpire should stand directly opposite the batter.
For practices it is recommended to wear a tshirt and long pants in case there is any sliding. The pants could be sweat pants, baseball pants or anything they are comfortable in. Each child gets a team t-shirt and hat to be worn to games, and they can wear the same type of pants as described for practices.
