You can view ROE s issued electronically by visiting My Service Canada Account. If your employer issues an ROE in paper format, you must provide Service Canada with the original copy of this ROE . Paper ROE s are generally filled out by hand and have serial numbers that start with A, E, K, L or Z.
There are two ways for your employer to give you your ROE. They can send your ROE to the government electronically. Your employer must send an electronic copy within 5 days of the end of the pay period in which you stopped working. If this happens, you don't need a paper copy.
If you are unable to get your ROE, go to your nearest Service Canada Office or call them at 1-800-206-7218. A Service Canada agent will tell you how to get your ROE or what else they will need to complete your application.
Employers are liable for two kinds of penalties for failing to provide an ROE on time. First, employers may be fined by the federal government up to $2,000 or imprisoned for up to six months, or both. Second, employers may be liable to the employee for damages for the inconvenience they caused.
Code M – Dismissal. Employers would need to use Code M when they initiate the separation from employment for any reason other than layoff or mandatory retirement – the employee is leaving the workplace because the employer has dismissed the employee.

EI - Employer responsibilities. Service Canada works closely with employers to ensure that the Employment Insurance (EI) program is run fairly and efficiently. if issuing electronic ROEs, using ROE Web or ROE SAT (Secure Automated Transfer), employees can view them through My Service Canada Account.
Recover access to your ROE Web account
- Enter your User Reference Number and click Continue.
- Answer your three security questions and click Continue.
- On the confirmation page, click Continue to start using your new user name and password to access your ROE Web account.
If you quit your job, you will not qualify for regular EI benefits unless you had "just cause". Just cause means you had to quit because you had no other reasonable choice.
Penalties for giving false or misleading information can be very severe: You will have to pay back all the EI money you should not have received. You might also have to pay as much as 3 times your weekly benefit for every false statement that EI staff think you have made.
How working affects your claim. If you earn money while receiving EI benefits, you can keep 50 cents of your benefits for every dollar you earn, up to 90 percent of your previous weekly earnings (roughly four and a half days of work). Above this cap, your EI benefits are deducted dollar-for-dollar.
Is "CRA My Account" the same as "My Service Canada Account"? These are different services from each of two Federal government agencies. CRA provides tax information. Service Canada deals with EI CPP OAS and other services.
If you applied for or are receiving EI, your EI Access Code was sent you when applied. It can be found on your first benefit statement. If you cannot find your EI Access Code, call 1-800-206-7218 between 8:30 am and 4:30 pm local time or go to your Service Canada Office (you will be required to verify your identity).
