1) Launch Photos while holding down the option key. 2) Select the Photos library that you want to import the images into. 3) Click the Choose Library button. 4) In the Photos app, select Import from the File menu.

When you create an empty new image, the background layer is an image layer. When you open a photo from your Photos library, that photo is also an image layer. You can create a new empty image layer by clicking the Add (+) button in the Pixelmator Pro toolbar and choosing Layer.

Change the color of a picture
- Click the picture that you want to change.
- Under Picture Tools, on the Format tab, in the Adjust group, click Color.
- Do one of the following:
- Optionally, you can fine-tune the intensity of your color change by clicking Picture Color Options, or you can customize your own color by clicking More Variations > More Colors.
- Choose Image > Rotate Image (from the Image menu at the top of your screen).
- Choose one of the following options: Flip Horizontal — Flips the image horizontally. Flip Vertical — Flips the image vertically.
To straighten the image, drag anywhere outside the crop box or move rotation wheel handle in the Tool Options pane. If you'd like to straighten the image automatically, click Auto Straighten in the Tool Options pane.

Change the blend mode of a layer
- Select the layer or layers you would like to edit.
- Choose the Style tool by doing one of the following: Click in the Tools sidebar.
- Click the Blend Mode pop-up menu — the words "Opacity (Normal)" — at the bottom of the Tool Options pane and choose a blend mode.
