Save PowerPoint presentations as PDF files
- Select File > Export.
- Click Create PDF/XPS Document, then click Create PDF/XPS.
- In the Publish as PDF or XPS dialog box, choose a location to save the file to.
- Optionally, if you want to change what the final PDF file is like, do any of the following:
- Click Publish.
Start by choosing "File" and then "Print," and clicking the "Position and Size" settings. Usually, the default option is "Scale to Fit Media," which prints to the page margins. Deselect it, then manually enter scale, height and width values that equal the full size of your paper. Click "Print" to print your image.
For example, to print 4 slides per page in PowerPoint, simply:
- Navigate to the File menu.
- Select Print.
- Open the Layout Options.
- Choose 4 slides per page (vertical or horizontal)
- Click Print.
Launch PowerPoint and open the presentation for which you want to adjust the paper margins. Click the “File” menu and select the “Page Setup” option, which will launch a separate dialog window. Click the “Slides Sized For” menu and select the “Custom” option.
For PowerPoint 2010
- Choose File> Print.
- In the Settings area, the first item will say Print All Slides. Click the down arrow and choose Custom Range.
- A box will appear, labeled “Slides.” Enter the slides that you want to print. For example, 1-3, 4, 6, 7-9.
- The second item will say Full Page Slides.
- Click Print.
Setting Borderless Printing

- Select Borderless Printing from the pop-up menu.
- Adjust the amount of extension from the paper.

In Word, go to file >> page setup and set the margins to 0. Also go to file >> print. Then click the properties button. There might be an option in there to set the printer margins or a "boarderless" printing mode.
Borderless printing is a useful technique to use when printing large graphics such as pop-up displays. It allows the graphic to be printed without a white margin at the sides of the print. If there are no margins all the way around, this is sometimes referred to as full-bleed printing.
This is caused by your printer margins, and the only way to print up to the edge of your page is a feature called 'borderless printing'. Annoyingly not all printers have borderless printing so there's no guarantee you'll be able to do it.
For Mac OS X 10.6.x and v.10.5.x
- Click the button in the Print dialog.
- Select the printer.
- Select the size of the paper for borderless printing.
- Select Borderless Printing from the pop-up menu on the Print Dialog.
- Adjust the amount of extension from the paper.
- Complete the setup.
Click on the "Paper Sizes" drop-down menu and scroll down to the borderless options. (Not all HP Printers will do borderless printing. If you don't see the borderless paper option, your printer does not support borderless printing.) Select your paper size and make sure it is marked as one of the borderless options.
Choose File > Export and select the Adobe PDF (Print) format. Select the Adobe PDF preset recommended by your print provider. In the General tab, select View PDF after Exporting. In Marks and Bleeds, select Crop Marks and Use Document Bleed Settings.
In the print dialogue select the paper as A4 borderless. You can show (using image option tab) where the image will appear on the paper. Push it right to the top. Select PRINT, and the image will print A5 borderless as required.
Printing A PDF From Microsoft Word With No Margins
- In Word file go to Page Setup.
- Settings - Page Attributes.
- Format for - Any Printer.

- Click in the paper size boxes to make 8.5 x 11 (or whatever you need)
Acrobat can size the pages of a PDF to fit the selected paper size.
- Choose File > Print.
- From the Page Scaling pop-up menu, select one of the following options: Fit To Printable Area Scales small pages up and large pages down to fit the paper.
- Click OK or Print.
If you scan or convert images to PDFs in your business, you will immediately notice that the resulting PDF files have a white border. This can be a problem if you need to print the documents. To solve this, use Adobe Acrobat to crop the PDF so that the white space is removed from all borders.
But when you print, a white margin appears around the edges of the slide. This is because most printers can't do borderless printing. Some printers have a "margin" option you can adjust that may make white margins smaller, but it still may not eliminate them entirely. Select File > Print > Print Full Page Slides.
Select your printer from the “Printer” drop-down menu and select “Actual size” under “Size Options.” Click the “Page Setup” button. If your printer supports borderless printing, the Margins section of the dialog box will be editable; change each margin setting to “0” and click “OK.”
Remove the border
- Select the text box or shape border that you want to remove.
- Under Drawing Tools, on the Format tab, in the Shape Styles group, click Shape Outline, and then click No Outline.

If you're in the United States or Canada, standard printer paper dimensions for most documents is that of the standard letter paper size, which is 8.5 inches by 11 inches. In much of the rest of the world, it is A4, which is 297 millimeters by 210 millimeters.
