Windows 7 does it the other way around. But both versions save the notes in a file called StickyNotes. snt, located in the C:UsersloginAppDataRoamingMicrosoftSticky Notes folder.
You can create and format a new note on your Android phone in different ways.
- Open OneNote, and then on the bottom right, tap Sticky Notes.
- From the list of notes tap the plus icon ( + ) to start a new note.
- Type or write a note.

Sticky Notes in Windows 10
- To open a new Sticky Note, type sticky in start search and hit Enter.

Method A: As for now, Sticky notes has no hotkeys for symbols. Example, in Microsoft Office word, the hotkey for the check symbol is 2713 + Alt + X.
If you can't find Sticky Notes on your computer, you can install the Microsoft Sticky Notes app free from the Microsoft Store. Once it's open, you may want to right-click the icon on your taskbar and select Pin to taskbar for easier access in the future.
To automatically arrange desktop sticky notes, right click on Notezilla icon in taskbar and choose Desktop Notes->Arrange Notes.
There's a simple way to turn it off, thankfully, although I'd recommend you leave it on the majority of the time.
- Just right-click on your Recycle Bin and choose Properties from the menu.

To trash a sticky note, click on the Trash Note button in the note toolbar. You can also press Ctrl+D shortcut key from the sticky note. To permanently delete a sticky note without sending it to the Trash memoboard, hold the Shift key and click on the Trash Note icon.
To close Sticky Notes app without losing all my notes, simply press Alt + F4. It's the keyboard shortcut known for closing any active application. Note that there is still no way you can close single sticky note without deleting it. And to minimize the Sticky Notes app, just click its icon on the taskbar once.
5 Ways to Open Sticky Notes in Windows 10
- Way 1: Open it in Start Menu. Click the Start button to display the Start Menu, and then choose Sticky Notes.
- Way 2: Turn it on by searching. Type sticky in the search box and select Sticky Notes in the result.
- Way 3: Open it via Run.
- Step 2: Type stikynot and press Enter.
- Step 2: Input stikynot.exe and hit Enter.
To delete a Sticky, simply click the Close button at the upper-left corner of the Sticky window. Or click the Sticky to make it the active note and then click Close.
On Windows 10, you can delete a sticky note three ways:
- From the list of notes, right click or tap and hold a note, and then click or tap Delete note.
- From the list of notes list, click or tap the ellipsis icon ( ) to the right of a note, and then click or tap Delete note.
Reset or Reinstall
Open Settings again and click on apps. Under Apps & features, search for Sticky Notes, click on it once, and select Advanced options. If you were signed into Sticky Notes before the app was uninstalled, your notes will reappear after you reinstall and sign in with the same account. Important: If you choose not to sign in to Sticky Notes, uninstalling or resetting the app will cause local notes to be deleted.Your best chance to recover your data is to try navigating to the C:Users<UserName>AppDataRoamingMicrosoftSticky Notes directory, right click on StickyNotes. snt, and select Restore Previous Versions. This will pull the file from your latest restore point, if available.
