Including biblical citations in your reference page is new to APA format 7th edition. The Bible and other religious texts fall under the “classical works” designation for the APA editorial style. Prior to the 7th edition, you only had to make an in-text citation when using the Bible.
In your Works Cited, include the title of the Bible, the version, and the publication information. Here are some examples for citing print and online editions of the Bible: Example: Zondervan NIV Study Bible (K. L. Barker, Ed.; Full rev. ed.).
For every in-text citation in your paper, there must be a corresponding entry in your reference list. APA in-text citation style uses the author's last name and the year of publication, for example: (Field, 2005). For direct quotations, include the page number as well, for example: (Field, 2005, p. 14).
In APA style, the in-text citation for a psalm includes more specific information about the reference, so you do not include the Bible on your references page. Instead of a page number, the parenthetical citation lists the book, chapter and verse with a colon between the chapter and verse.
For APA, you include the Bible and date of publication “as cited in” then the citation information. “Quote” (King James Version, 1604, as cited in Smith, 2020).

MLA format follows the author-page method of in-text citation. This means that the author's last name and the page number(s) from which the quotation or paraphrase is taken must appear in the text, and a complete reference should appear on your Works Cited page.
In-text citations include the last name of the author followed by a page number enclosed in parentheses. "Here's a direct quote" (Smith 8). If the author's name is not given, then use the first word or words of the title. Follow the same formatting that was used in the Works Cited list, such as quotation marks.

Put the citation in a "Work Cited" list at the conclusion of your report. If you are typing, make sure to italicize the citation. Write "The Holy Bible: King James Version" followed by the publishing city and state (abbreviated), publisher company name and year it was published.

- Put your cursor at the end of the text you want to cite.
- Go to References > Style, and choose a citation style.
- Select Insert Citation.
- Choose Add New Source and fill out the information about your source.

When using APA format, follow the author, date method of in-text citation. This means that the author's last name and the year of publication for the source should appear in the text, e.g., (Jones, 1998), and a complete reference should appear in the reference list at the end of the paper.
References are usually listed at the end of the paper on a page called References, Works Cited, or Bibliography. Full references always include the author, title, and publication date of the source. They also include other information that helps identify the source.
A website title, or title tag, refers to the HTML title tag that appears in multiple places across the internet. This provides web users with a concise description of a web page's content and allows search engine algorithms to determine whether the site is relevant to the inputted search term or keyword.
MLA citing format often includes the following pieces of information, in this order: Author's Last name, First name. "Title of Source." Title of Container, other contributors, version, numbers, publisher, publication date, location.

A citation is a reference to the source of information used in your research. Any time you directly quote, paraphrase or summarize the essential elements of someone else's idea in your work, an in-text citation should follow. You do not have to cite your own ideas, unless they have been published.
