- Press NVDA+0 to enable braille input.
- Type braille by pressing keys together on the PC keyboard as if it were a braille keyboard.
- You can press most other keys as normal, including space, backspace, enter and function keys.
Braille transcribers can earn certification from the Library of Congress' National Library Service for the Blind and Physically Handicapped. This process includes passing a free literary braille transcription course, which can be taken online, in classes, or through correspondence.
BENGALURU: Two students from MVJ College of Engineering have developed a device called 'bBook' that converts text into braille in real time. Once a person with a visual impairment places the device over the text, it uses the six pins on its surface to convert the text.
Go to Settings > Accessibility > VoiceOver > Braille > Braille Screen Input to make six-dot or contracted braille the default or to reverse the dot positions for six-dot and eight-dot braille.
Google announced on Thursday that it now offers a Braille keyboard integrated directly into Android. The keyboard, called TalkBack, uses a six-key layout. Each key represents one of six Braille dots, which will form letters and symbols when tapped in combination.
Contracted (grade 2) braille is used by more experienced braille users. It uses the same letters, punctuation and numbers as uncontracted (grade 1) braille, but adds a series of special signs to represent common words or groups of letters, a bit like a kind of shorthand.

A stylus consists of a small handle made of wood or plastic with a sharp metal point.
