Lungo (Italian for "long") is a coffee beverage made by using an espresso machine to make an Italian-style coffee – short black (a single espresso shot) with much more water (generally twice as much), resulting in a larger coffee, a lungo.
Just brew a lungo, eject the capsule, and then brew another lungo without a capsule to add about 4 ounces of hot water. Voila! An 8-ounce Americano you can sip and savor like a regular cup of coffee.
This is because Nespresso's capsules are nitrogen flushed and sealed hermetically. Nespresso's crema is made by the machine using a mechanism that produces high air pressure to create foam. It also lacks that special blend of oils a professional espresso machine encourages and is thus lacking in that intensive flavour.
All you do is use each pod twice! After using the Nespresso pod to make your cappuccino or espresso, simply put the pod back into the machine and have it make you another cup. The second cup tasted fine; the only difference is it was a bit weaker than the first cup, but it still tasted great.

But, the quality is unmatched. If you prefer a bolder, higher quality brew, or regularly drink espresso-style coffees, you will love this machine and likely save money by making coffee at home rather than purchasing barista crafted drinks at your local coffee shop.
A great classic! A blend of Espresso and milk, topped with wonderfully creamy milk foam.
While there are third-party capsules, Nespresso capsules are high-quality espresso and coffee. The difference is that the Vertuo capsules vary in size for different brews, while the original pods are just made for a single shot of espresso. Hopefully that cleared some of it up.
A double shot uses 14g of coffee and produces around 60ml of espresso (about 2 liquid ounces). Double shots are now the standard in America and many places around the world. If you ask for a single, the barista will likely pull a double but use a split portafilter to halve the shot for you.
Most commonly, an Americano is used when one wishes a brew-coffee sized drink from an espresso bar. A lungo is less strong, but more bitter, because the additional hot water passing through the ground coffee extracts components that would normally remain undissolved.
Lungo - The Power lies in TranquilityLungo is a special way of preparing espresso. If you translate the Italian word 'lungo', it stands for long. In relation to the preparation of espresso, this means that a so-called 'long espresso' is produced.
Each standard arabica capsule contains 5 grams of coffee which delivers 60mg of caffeine per pour and each Nespresso Lungo Capsule contains 6 grams of coffee for a caffeine content of around 83mg. Default pour size is: Espresso - 40mls, and Lungo (long) - 110mls.
You can reuse your Nespresso pods by refilling them with coffee grounds and sealing them. First, allow the pods to cool completely, then take off the foil and throw away the old coffee grounds. Rinse the pods fully before filling them with freshly ground espresso.
A ristretto is a restricted, “shorter” version of an espresso: it uses less water and so makes a smaller drink. Since a ristretto is an overall shorter pull than an espresso, the final drink is a slightly sweeter, more concentrated flavor that plays out without any bitterness.
