A miter saw is the absolute best option for those who need precision miter cuts and bevel cuts of wood or other softer materials like plastic. Yes, table saws can do the same cuts that miter saws can. However, if you use a table saw to try and make precision cuts, then the chances of making a mistake go up drastically.
Table saws perform larger and longer cuts than miter saws. They help cut down larger materials, too. While miter saws sometimes come with extensions for the sides, a table saw does not require a larger blade to produce a longer cut.
Here's a run-down on the most common features to consider: Flat top: Accurate cuts demand a flat table. Check the saw's flatness deviation (0.005” is typically acceptable for a cabinet saw). Fence type: The rip fence should lock down solidly and be perfectly parallel with the blade.
Circular Saw. Unlike a table saw, circular saws are mobile, so you can take them to the material. But, whereas a table saw offers a surface on which to support the material being cut, a circular saw does not offer material support. A good cut will cause the saw guard to retract smoothly as the cut is made.

As already mentioned dado blades are illegal on UK (EU) table saws because in order to use them the guard and riving knife have to be removed, and is therefore unsafe. This is not the case in the USA. Because of this, all UK or european table saws are deliberatley fitted with short arbors to prevent their use.
You'll also need to equip yourself with a heavy-duty stand to support the workpiece as it moves past the blade and off the table. Most small table saws come with a fence that's accurate enough for carpentry and finish carpentry but not for more demanding work.
It will cut very nice and is very reliable. If you're buying new for accurate woodworking, don't even bother looking at something below $500 - it's cutting too many corners to be acceptable. A table saw is the #1 tool in a wood shop, so don't skimp. If you're looking on the cheap, look at used.
Blades with more teeth yield a smoother cut. Blades with fewer teeth remove material faster, but tend to produce a rougher cut with more “tearout”. More teeth means you will need to use a slower feed rate. No matter what type of saw blade you use, you will likely wind up with residue on the saw blade.
Theoretically, a 10-inch blade will fit on a 12-inch saw, but the arbor -- or hole in the middle of the blade -- is typically smaller. Ten-inch blades can be ordered or bored out to fit a 12-inch saw, but it's expensive and usually not worth the effort.

As long as the diameter of the arbor hole on the stacked dado blade set matches the arbor diameter of your table saw or radial-arm saw—and the arbor is long enough for a dado blade—you can use an 8-inch dado blade on a 10-inch table saw.
For a primary blade, I prefer the 40-tooth general-purpose blades. They rip slightly faster than the 50-tooth blades, because they have fewer teeth, and crosscut just as well, because all the teeth are crosscut-friendly. This tooth design also leaves less bottom-side tear-out on hardwood plywood.
Minneapolis (don't even ask how i end up here. If you stack two regular blades , make sure the set of the teeth are alternating so the blades are not bent. The Dado blades are set up to fit stacked.
The blade raising mechanism on most saws can raise the arbor until the flange almost touches the underside of the throat plate, which is usually about 1/8 inch thick. Generally speaking, a 10 inch saw can cut slightly over 3" deep. A 12 inch saw will cut 4 inches deep.
Do not use anything but a 10" blade on a 10" saw. My 6-1/2 inch Skilsaw has the same 5/8 inch hole as does my 9 inch table saw. I have used every size of blade from 9 inch down to 6-1/2 inch on my table saw with no problem.
