When a specific figure is given, leave a space between the word gram (or the symbol g ) and the number that immediately precedes it. In scientific and technical writing, either the number and unit name are both written in full ( e.g. twelve grams), or a numeral is used with the symbol ( e.g. 12 g ).
The unit of measurement for weight is that of force, which in the International System of Units (SI) is the newton. For example, an object with a mass of one kilogram has a weight of about 9.8 newtons on the surface of the Earth, and about one-sixth as much on the Moon.

One point costs 1 percent of your mortgage amount (or $1,000 for every $100,000). Essentially, you pay some interest up front in exchange for a lower interest rate over the life of your loan.

The SI unit of mass is the kilogram (kg). In science and technology, the weight of a body in a particular reference frame is defined as the force that gives the body an acceleration equal to the local acceleration of free fall in that reference frame.
The label warns people not to take more than 4 grams -- eight pills -- in a single 24 hour period.

In the metric system, "milli" means 1/1,000 and "kilo" means 1,000. This means that a milligram is 1/1,000 of a gram, and a kilogram is 1,000 grams. So a kilogram is much heavier than a milligram; in fact, a kilogram is a million times as heavy as a milligram!
A kilogram is times larger than one gram (so ). A centimeter is times smaller than one meter (so ). A dekaliter is times larger than one liter (so ).

Both pound and kilogram are units of measurement of weight or mass. A pound is an imperial unit of mass or weight. A kilogram (kg) is stated to be 2.2 times heavier than a pound (represented as lbs). Thus, one kilo of mass is equal to 2.26lbs.
Mass. The units kilogram, gram, milligram, microgram, and smaller are commonly used for measurement of mass. However, megagram, gigagram, and larger are rarely used; tonnes (and kilotonnes, megatonnes, etc.) or scientific notation are used instead.
A milligram is generally abbreviated as mg. One microgram is one millionth of a gram and one thousandth of a milligram. It is usually abbreviated as mcg or ug. Mcg and ug are the same.
Capacity is the total amount of liquid an object can contain. Capacity is often measured using the metric units of liter (L) and milliliter (mL). Convert liters to milliliters. Liters are larger than milliliters, so multiply by 1,000.
: a unit of mass equal to ¹/100 gram — see Metric System Table.
A milliliter, abbreviated as ml or mL, is a unit of volume in the metric system. One milliliter is equal to one thousandth of a liter, or 1 cubic centimeter.
Medicine, vitamins and other small objects are measured in milligrams. Several food products are measured in grams. Heavier objects, including larger food quantities and humans, have masses expressed in kilograms.
So, a milligram is a thousandth of a thousandth of a kilogram, and a milliliter is a thousandth of a liter. Notice there is an extra thousandth on the weight unit. Therefore, there must be 1,000 milligrams in a milliliter, making the formula for mg to ml conversion: mL = mg / 1000 .
