Juvenile scalloped hammerhead sharks, which are typically light tan in color, were found to suntan when exposed to increases in solar radiation (Fig. 1). These sharks spend most of their time in the deeper, murkier portions of KÄneÊ»ohe Bay, where little sunlight penetrates.
They are large-bodied and display a mouthful of sharp teeth that protrude in all directions, even when the mouth is shut. Despite this, they are a docile, non-aggressive species, known to attack humans only when bothered first.
If the shark has a ridge (a definite standing crease) between the first and second dorsal fins (fins on top of body), you must release it. It is illegal to possess. However, the sandbar shark is very similar to the Finetooth in color and shape of nose. The sandbar is on the prohibited list to keep.
Sand sharks are edible because they feed on small fish such as mackerel, menhaden, sea trout, and flounder. The meat of a sand shark is white and firm and tastes like lobster or swordfish. Sand shark meat is good to eat if it is properly cleaned and cut.

Sandbar sharks are typically about 20 to 24 inches at birth and can grow up to 8 feet long.
True to its name, it prefers coastal and offshore sandy areas of the Florida Gulf and Atlantic coasts. Exclusively a marine species, but known to venture near mouths of rivers and estuarine systems.
Since these sharks are gentle animals and generally non-aggressive towards humans, they are very popular shark divers. There has never been a recorded fatality due to a Lemon Shark bite and most bites are the result of the shark being spooked.

The pink lanternshark (Etmopterus dianthus) is a shark of the family Etmopteridae found around Australia and New Caledonia, at depths of between 110 and 880 m. Its length is up to 41 cm.

About the Orange Spotted CatsharkThe Orange Spotted Catshark can only be found off the coast of Western Australia at depths between 25 to 540 m, but usually not found in shallower waters. However, the dogfish is a member of the shark family and does provide a dependable catch on days when little else is biting, especially as dogfish feed just as well in bright sunlight as they do at night.

The porbeagle shark is often mistaken for the great white shark, leading to claims of great white sharks in UK waters. However, the great white has never been recorded in UK seas. Porbeagle sharks are half the size of a great white shark.
The sand tiger shark is found in the eastern and western Atlantic, the Pacific and Indian Oceans and in the Mediterranean and Adriatic Seas. In the North Atlantic it ranges from the Gulf of Maine to Florida and into the Gulf of Mexico.
These sharks are believed to live more than 30 years. Although sandbar sharks are listed by the IUCN Red List as only Lower Risk/near threatened, they are severely overfished in the western North Atlantic.
Bull sharks are large and stout, with females being larger than males. The bull shark can be up to 81 cm (2.66 ft) in length at birth. Adult female bull sharks average 2.4 m (7.9 ft) long and typically weigh 130 kg (290 lb), whereas the slightly smaller adult male averages 2.25 m (7.4 ft) and 95 kg (209 lb).
Blacktip sharks are generally stockier than spinner sharks, with a shorter snout and a dorsal fin that starts slightly before the rear margin of the pectoral fins. Spinners are generally more streamlined, have shorter pectoral fins, and have a dorsal fin that originates behind the rear margin of the pectoral fins.
The anal fin of a blacktip is a single color (light grey). Blacktips usually have a much taller dorsal fin than a spinner shark. Another noticeable feature is the contrast of their skin color. A blacktip will usually have much stronger contrast in their skin color than a spinner.
