Respected analyst Ming-Chi Kuo believes Apple is planning to launch a brand new iPad mini. He initially thought the device would arrive before the end of 2020. Kuo's backtracked and now claims the new iPad mini 6 will arrive in the second half 0f 2021.
According to the current rumors and Kuo, Apple will release the "iPad mini 6" in late 2021.

Another major difference between the iPad and iPad Air is in their processors. The iPad runs on Apple's A12 Bionic processor, which powers the older iPhone XS lineup of smartphones, while the iPad Air runs on the same A14 Bionic chip that powers the current iPhone 12 series.
