The distance between Cardigan and New Quay is 16 miles. The road distance is 20 miles.
Cardigan has everything: ancient history, modern comforts, beautiful landscapes, and the sea just in reach. Its spirit is part old-fashioned Welsh market town, part hippy, arty enclave, and both sides sing to each other in perfect chapel-pew harmony. Come and fizz in my newcomer's enthusiasm.
CEREDIGION is officially the best place to work, rest and play in England and Wales. Its beaches, rural villages, low house prices and quality of life have won it top ranking in a new poll.
Ceredigion is a coastal county, bordered by Cardigan Bay to the west, Gwynedd to the north, Powys to the east, Carmarthenshire to the south and Pembrokeshire to the south-west. The Cambrian Mountains cover much of the east of the county; this large area forms part of the desert of Wales.
The area between Cardigan Island in the south and Aberporth in the north is a great viewing spot to see bottlenose dolphins between June and September. Though, you can see them year-round. The summer months are best with New Quay being the hottest spot (June-October).

Located about 4.5 miles north of Cardigan town centre on the Mid Wales coast, you'll drive down country lines to be presented with dramatic views over Cardigan Bay upon arrival. To reach the beach there is a series of steps leading down to the sheltered sandy bay.
It is no wonder that Penbryn Beach is one of the most popular beaches located in Cardigan Bay. Owned by the National Trust, this beach lies right in-between Tresaith and Llangrannog. This beaches history is also fascinating as it was one the routes which smugglers used to transport contraband.
However, the estate and land around the coast were donated to the National Trust. They still own and protect this gorgeous beauty spot area today. It's now open to the public to explore. Barafundle Bay used to be a local secret until it won an award for being one of the top 12 beaches in the world in 2004!
Borth has a three-mile stretch of sandy beach, backed for the most part by a pebble storm beach. There are rock pools at the south end of the beach where there is also a Lifeboat station and a small slipway. The beach then extends for approximately 3 miles northwards.
The beach is a good destination for bathing, and during the summer months there are lifeguards on duty from 10am until 6pm every day, and a marked out swimming zone. It is not advisable to swim outside of this zone, particularly towards the river mouth to the east, as there can be strong currents.
Aberystwyth's North Beach and seafront is a focal point of the town and a favourite attraction for visitors and locals alike. The clean, dark sand and shingle beach has both Blue Flag and Seaside Awards.
