Marvel's Cloak & Dagger has officially been cancelled by network Freeform after two seasons, reports Deadline.
According to an individual close to the series, the creative team felt that the third season provided a natural ending point for the show. It is worth nothing, however, that “Runaways” was one of the few remaining live-action shows under the Marvel Television umbrella as set up by Jeph Loeb.
EXCLUSIVE: Freeform has opted not to renew drama Marvel's Cloak & Dagger for a third season. The news is not surprising as it comes five months after the second season of the superhero series ended its run on the Disney network.
The pair became romantically involved, though their relationship has had its ups and downs. Cloak has run away many times, not understanding that Dagger is fully willing to use her light power to satisfy his darkness. Cloak & Dagger are devoted to each other, but Dagger often wants more from life.
"Cloak and dagger" refers to situations involving intrigue, secrecy, espionage, or mystery.

The upcoming Season 3 of Hulu superhero series Marvel's Runaways will include a crossover episode with the Freeform series Marvel's Cloak & Dagger, Marvel Television and Hulu said Thursday. Both series are currently available on Hulu, which is run by Freeform's parent Disney.

I.E.L.D. With Feige seemingly now in the place Loeb stood, it's possible that some higher-up at Marvel, Disney, or Freeform decided to pull the plug on Cloak and Dagger since the series may not fit into Feige's overall grand plan of crossing the small-screen Marvel world into the big-screen MCU.
Movies like "Iron Man," "Captain Marvel," "Black Panther," and "Avengers: Endgame" are all available now. Upcoming Marvel films set for theatrical release, like "Black Widow" and "The Eternals," will also arrive on Disney Plus a few months after they hit home video formats.
Cloak & Dagger premieres June 7 on Freeform in the US and June 8 on Amazon Prime in the UK.
It is set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), sharing continuity with the films and other television series of the franchise. In August 2016, Marvel Television announced that Runaways had received a pilot order from Hulu, after being developed and written by Schwartz and Savage.
