For the preparation of KVPY the candidates need to do is to understand the concepts of Mathematics and Science subjects properly. Most of the students consider this scholarship exam tougher than other examinations as most of the questions that are asked in the exam are according to JEE Main or JEE Advanced level.
To avail a KVPY scholarship during the MBBS degree, the students have to appear in the KVPY SP (Medicine) examination. To be eligible for KVPY SP Medicine, the students must be in their first or second year of their MBBS PROGRAMME.
Can we give the KVPY exam twice? Yes, you can give the KVPY exam twice in class 11 (KVPY SA) and 12 (KVPY SX). You can also give KVPY third time (KVPY SB), if you are pursuing a basic science course (first year) after class 12.
It consists of 40 questions of 1 mark each and 12 questions of 5 marks each. There will be four sections allotted for (1) Mathematics, (2) Physics, (3) Chemistry and (4) Biology. All questions are compulsory.

Yes, from 2011 onwards, 4 years Bachelor of Science (Research) program is offered at IISc. The candidate must have studied Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics in +2/12th Standard. In addition, the candidate need to qualify in one of the national tests – KVPY/ IIT-JEE (Main) or (Advance)/ NEET.

Each section has 4 subjects physics, chemistry maths and biology. If it is KVPY SA, yes it is compulsory and leaving biology section will cost you marks. If it is KVPY SX/SB, you're allowed to choose subjects and you can conveniently leave biology or any other section you wish to.

KVPY aptitude test is conducted in Computer Based Test (CBT) mode and the question paper is in two languages— English and Hindi. The test consists of multiple-choice questions (MCQs) from Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and Biology. The total time duration of the test is 3 hours.

As per the eligibility norms of KVPY, in order to appear for KVPY- SA. SX or SB stream, you have to be enrolled in either class 11, 12, or B.Sc.
