The industry standard states that the lifespan of a motorcycle helmet is five years. That is as long as you have not cut its life short by an accident or impact to it. If that happens you should definitely not use it, time to trash it!

If you care a lot about light weight, the AGV K6 is the clear choice. If you want the option of a photochromic faceshield, the Shoei RF-1200 is the obvious choice. Arai uses a single-piece inner shell, but it's made up of multiple densities for structural integrity… but of course, this is more expensive to make. The Shoei RF-1200 has been DOT/ECE 22-05 approved for sale so has passed the minimum safety testing requirements. The RF-1200's predecessor, the RF-1100, scored 5/5 (top marks) in the SHARP test, so we expect the RF-1200 to score well in terms of safety too.

The Scorpion EXO-R710 is a street helmet that features a dual-density EPS liner. It's a sturdy and durable model that provides excellent protection on the road and reduces the chances of injuries. Thanks to the aero-tuned ventilation, it's also very comfortable. The ventilation is good but not extraordinary.
Fiber-Reinforced Matrix: An outer shell that is made primarily of fiberglass (FRP) is given its shape by a heat-setting plastic resin. The SHOEI helmet shell owes its ideal function to the integration of organic fibers, as well as a three-dimensional shaping process in a layered structure.
Arai makes a quality lid and once upon a time was arguably the best out there. If you have the money and buy an Arai, you will end up with a fine helmet. However if you live on a budget, dropping $500 plus on a new Arai and skimping elsewhere is not something I would recommend.
