In May 2019, it was confirmed that a ninth film in the series was in production. Former series director Darren Lynn Bousman will return to helm the film. Comedian and actor Chris Rock will star in the film and will also be involved as an executive producer, in addition to writing the story treatment.
Longtime “Saw” filmmakers Mark Burg and Oren Koules returned to produce “Saw.” Darren Lynn Bousman, who helmed the second, third and fourth “Saw” movies, is directing the new movie.

Lionsgate on Wednesday dropped the first look at the new Saw film, which stars Rock and is based on a story he pitched. The trailer not only confirms that we didn't dream any of this, but also the title of the movie: Spiral: From the Book of Saw.
The most recent movie was 2017's “Jigsaw,” which earned $100 million worldwide. The upcoming “Saw” will be released on Oct. 23, 2020.

Chris came up with his own story. Lionsgate decided use his story for SAW movie. The movie in question was shelved, it was a prequel set to film last year and come out this year. As of right now, Tobin isn't in it.
Spiral debuted in North America via Netflix in September 2012. The first five seasons are currently available on Hulu. Spiral has received wide-ranging critical acclaim throughout its run, and has been nominated and won several awards.
