The original Surface Studio set a new gold standard for desktop computers when it launched shy of two years ago and now the Surface Studio 2 looks to eclipse it with better hardware in every way. With an updated processor, graphics card and brighter screen, Microsoft's new desktop might look like a complete win.
Microsoft aren't too far off with the premium prices of these Surfaces compared to Apple. Part of it is physical size, maybe a big part of it. Fitting the components into the smallest size takes a lot more engineering work than the same components in a physically larger device.
Back in 2018 the answer was NO.
Design. Kicking things off with design, the Surface Studio is still a looker in 2019. Unfortunately, the Surface Studio isn't a PC you can tinker with easily, although it's technically possible to do so. There are even some upgradable components, but Microsoft doesn't recommend opening the Surface Studio at all.
As an all-in-one, the only cable you technically need for the Surface Studio 2 is the power cable. There's no need for an HDMI and power cable for a separate monitor. And as for peripherals and their respective cables, the Surface Studio 2 comes with a great, simple Bluetooth wireless mouse and keyboard.
Microsoft has not announced the Surface Studio 3 yet, but a 2020 update to the desktop is likely. The first version of the Surface Studio launched in late 2016, and the follow-up Surface Studio 2 launched in November of 2018.
Microsoft told The Verge that the RAM is not replaceable or upgradable at all. Even though the ability to upgrade the devices is limited, it's still a big step forward, iFixit CEO Kyle Wiens tells The Verge.
Press and hold the power button for 10-15 seconds until the screen turns off, then release the power button. Press and release the power button to turn Surface Studio back on. If that doesn't work, press and hold down the power button for 15-20 seconds.
When used with Surface Studio, Surface Pro, and Surface Book 2, Surface Dial allows you to reimagine the way you design. Place it directly on the screen and watch as a color picker or ruler magically appears on your digital drafting table.

Microsoft's Surface Book 3 is the most powerful 2-in-1 on Earth, and it's the only Surface portable to feature a dedicated NVIDIA GPU. But it's an incredibly expensive device, it's a bit heavy, and it still doesn't have Thunderbolt 3. The Surface Book 3 is worth buying, but only if you need the 2-in-1 form factor.
The only “upgradeable” product in the Surface line is the Surface Pro X that has an accessible slot for upgrading the RAM (And inserting a sim). You can ensure you performance is at its maximum by ensuring your power options are set to the best possible settings (Note: this is at the cost of battery life).
