From this video you will learn what is revit project & revit family. Revit project is the sum of various Member. Members are of family type and other. Various member like column, beam, floor, wall are the family they are built in within the software. You can also edit them & you can create new by your own.
Create a project in Revit and enter project-specific information.
- Create the project. Use a project template provided by your CAD/BIM manager, or use a default template.
- Specify project information. Enter the client name, project name, number, and address.
- Define positioning.
- Create construction phases.
Use Revit Home to open a model from BIM 360 Document Management. On the Home page, under Models, click Open. As an alternative, from the ribbon, click File tab Open (Project). In the Open dialog, navigate to the folder where the model resides.
A view template is a collection of view properties, such as view scale, discipline, detail level, and visibility settings. Use view templates to apply standard settings to views. View templates can help to ensure adherence to office standards and achieve consistency across construction document sets.
Structural Template used to design a building or to design the building's elements, think as you need to design the structure of something (building) like floor, wall etc. Construction Template : as its name used to construct building, means inside parts such as beam, column, footing, etc.
- In the Project Browser, select the view from which you want to create the view template.
- Click View tab Graphics panel View Templates drop-down Create Template from Current View, or right-click and select Create View Template From View.
- In the New View Template dialog, enter a name for the template, and click OK.
- Open Revit.
- Click File tab Options and click the File Locations tab.
- Click and enter the desired default project template.
- Set the Default path for family template files to this location: C:ProgramDataAutodesk<product><version>Family Templates<language>
- Click the Places button.

- In the Family Category and Parameters dialog, select the family category, and click OK.
- Enter a name for the in-place element family, and click OK.

To add a view to the sheet, use one of the following methods:
- In the Project Browser, expand the list of views, locate the view, and drag it onto the sheet.
- Click View tab Sheet Composition panel (Place View). In the Views dialog, select a view, and click Add View to Sheet.
For example, Revit is part of the Building Design Suite and includes functionality for all disciplines, architecture MEP and structure. Revit Architecture is a stand-alone product that only includes the architectural functionality.
Revit Architecture specific tools can be found on the 'Architecture' tab. It is all about the build environment. Revit Structure specific tools can be found on the 'Structure' tab. They are also about the built environment but includes tools for analysing and graphically presenting loads in the structure.
