There are 15 core subjects that all SHS students will take. Two of these are different if you are under the Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) strand. These core subjects include Language, Humanities, Communication, Mathematics, Science, Social Science, Philosophy, and PE and Health subjects.
The K to 12 system aims to improve Filipino students' skills in mathematics, science, and linguistics to further exhibit competence in the global job market. With the new curriculum, the Department of Education promises to offer higher quality education through the strands.
BACHELOR OF SCIENCE IN TOURISM MANAGEMENT is a four-year degree program related to the fields of hospitality and tourism education. It provides students the opportunity to become directly involved in managing and planning the world's biggest people industry – tourism.

K-12, a term used in education and educational technology in the United States, Canada, and possibly other countries, is a short form for the publicly-supported school grades prior to college. These grades are kindergarten (K) and the 1st through the 12th grade (1-12).
Technical-Vocational-Livelihood track deals primarily with technical-vocational skills or tech-voc. These skills are requirements for the Certificate of Competency (COC) and National Certifications (NC) that you will need especially if you are looking for a career in electronics, agriculture, or trading.

Much like college, students are allowed to change their tracks or strands in the middle of senior high school. To do this, however, they must complete all the pre-requisite subjects of the new track or strand, which will entail extra work.Upon choosing the academic track, students can choose from four different strands: General Academic; Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics; Accountancy, Business, and Management; and Humanities and Social Sciences. Students who want to pursue a degree in Tourism are encouraged to take the Home Economics strand under the Technical-Vocational and Livelihood (TVL) track. The strand covers interesting topics like beauty and wellness, cooking, fashion designing, tourism, hospitality, and handicrafts.
TVL stands for Technical-Vocational-Livelihood, and the TVL Track is one of the two tracks offered in senior high school; the other one is the Academic Track.

STRAND DESCRIPTION
The Music, Arts and Design Track prepares the learners for a tertiary education geared towards the performing arts, media and visual arts and industrial arts. It includes specialization subjects that provide the learners the needed competencies in music, theater, and creative arts.Students who want to pursue a degree in Architecture are encouraged to take the Accountancy, Business and Management strand. This strand provides the basic concepts of business and financial management, and corporate operations that will be helpful for college.
GAS (General Academics Strand) is the most flexible strand among the four strands offered in the Academic Track because students get to learn and experience something from all the other strands. GAS is essentially for students who are undecided on which strand to take.

TVL-HE is designed to develop students' skills useful for livelihood projects at home. Students in this strand undergo TESDA assessment for National Certifications (NCs) that increase their employability after graduation from SHS.
