Nowadays there is little to no difference between 50 and 530 chains, but the difference originated from where 50 chains were used in industrial applications whereas 530 chains were used primarily for transport and vehicles.
Motorcycle and ATV chains have a width number of either 15, 20, 25 or 30. If the distance between the two inner plates in a link is 3/8th of an inch, the chain has a width number of 30. 15 width: Measure 3/16†between the inner plates.

The X-ring chain is a specialized type of sealed roller chain used to transfer mechanical power. Like the standard O-ring chains it is also used in high performance motorcycles. It uses X-ring seal to keep lubricant (usually grease) in place. It can last twice as long as the O-ring chain under some circumstances.
Determine the number of teeth of the small sprocket. The number of teeth for the large sprocket is determined by multiplying the number of teeth for the small sprocket by the speed ratio. More than 15 teeth on the small sprocket is recommended. The number of teeth on the large sprocket should be less than 120.
Sometimes the next grade up in strength is just a wider chain. 428 and 428H are the same pitch, but 428H is a bit wider and stronger. 520, 525 and 530 are like that too.
