The most important day in the Christian year is Easter Sunday, when Jesus was raised to new life. Because of this, Christians made Sunday their Sabbath (holy day). Christians believe that the resurrection proves that Jesus is the Christ (Messiah) and the Son of God. The resurrection is a sign of God's great power.
Resurrection of the body: The belief that after death one's departed soul will be restored, or resurrected, to a bodily life in heaven. Immediate resurrection: A doctrine which states that after one's death there is no intermediate state, such as purgatory, before one's soul enters its eternal state.
