ChromaPop is a proprietary lens technology from Smith that enhances clarity and natural color beyond normal capacity to allow for better visual detail.
Why these lenses? Whereas many lowlight lenses default to a hight yellow-tint, the Smith ChromaPop Polarchromic Ignitor has more of a light rose tint to it.
Ski & Snowboard Goggle Visual Light Transmission (VLT)The amount of light a goggle lens allows to pass through is called Visible Light Transmission (VLT). VLT is expressed as the percentage of light allowed through the lens falling somewhere between 0% and 100%. These lenses will allow a higher percentage of VLT.
Clarity and Optical QualityAt the premium end of Smith's offerings, the I/O Mag Goggles come with two lenses: one for sunny conditions and one for cloudy days with low light.
Each lens has a Visual Light Transmission, or VLT, percentage unit that describes how much light the lens will allow through to your eyes. The higher the VLT percentage, the more light goes through (great for dark conditions), the lower the percentage the less light goes through (great for bright conditions).
Smith Optics offer a wide variety of Polarised, Mirrored and Non-mirrored lenses for their collection of Premium Performance interchangeable sunglasses. Enhance your vision in all light and weather conditions.
This lens is built from scratch resistant optical grade mineral glass. They provide up to 12x more scratch resistance than a polymer lens and can be up to 20% lighter than a traditional glass lens. These lenses offer 100% UV protection with an antireflective coating to ease eye strain.
Versatile and great-looking lens. Truly the most versatile lens that SMITH offers, this lens will automatically change VLT based on conditions. The best of both worlds in offering ChromaPop contrast and photochromic technology. This lens is not mirrored and falls right in the middle of the Everyday lens spectrum.
Brown and copper lens colors are not only great for bright days, they naturally protect against blue light as well. Yellow and amber lenses also naturally handle blue light, but they don't block enough light for bright days.
All Smith lenses provide 100% protection from dangerous UV radiation. Prescription lenses are add ons and must be added to your shopping cart separately. Prescription lens prices are marked in the blue or yellow shaded boxes underneath all the frame color options.

Carbonic PolarizedPolarized lenses block out glare, which makes them great for driving, fishing, or everyday use.
Trivex lenses tend to cost more than polycarbonate or standard plastic lenses. But if you want what many eye care professionals consider to be the best combination of safety, comfort, appearance and optical performance for most eyeglass prescriptions, the Trivex price tag may be an investment worth making.
How long does it take photochromic glasses to change to sunglasses? It takes approximately 30 seconds for your clear photochromic lenses to darken, and the tint on your lenses may continue to change gradually (and subtly) to an even darker shade for the first 10 minutes that you're outside.
Photochromic lens molecules make light, dark, and every shade in between possible. When photochromic lenses are exposed to UV light, trillions of photochromic molecules in the lens begin to change structure. This reaction is what causes the lenses to darken. Each formula is integrated into the surface of the lens.
Not only do they work wonders in a range of conditions, but their ability to adapt makes them perfect for people who like to ski at different times of the day.
Cost effective – Photochromic or transitional lenses can actually be quite cost effective. Protects your eyes – Transitional lenses do more than function as sunglasses. They actually filter out a good deal of the harmful UV rays emitted from the sun, leading to healthier and happier eyes.
Photochromic lenses are clear indoors, but a chemical reaction within the lens causes them to darken after about 30 seconds of exposure to ultraviolet (UV) radiation from sunlight. After moving indoors, the lenses become clear again within a few minutes.
