To get attestation, a person needs to contact a doctor at a government hospital, a district superintendent of police or a sub-divisional/first class/additional district magistrate.
Attestation is the act of witnessing the signing of a formal document and then also signing it to verify that it was properly signed by those bound by its contents. Attestation is a legal acknowledgment of the authenticity of a document and a verification that proper processes were followed.
“Officially Valid Document” (OVD) means the passport, the driving licence, 9proof of possession of Aadhaar number, the Voter's Identity Card issued by the Election Commission of India, job card issued by NREGA duly signed by an officer of the State Government and letter issued by the National Population Register
An attestation letter should be short, formal and to the point. Open the attestation letter with the date, month and year, then address the individual or company concerned. For example, “Dear Mr. Smith†or “Dear Employees.†The address will provide a clear statement of who is concerned in the matter of attestation.
Self attested copy of PAN card is mandatory for all clients, including Promoters/Partners/Karta/Trustees and whole time directors and persons authorized to deal in securities on behalf of company/firm/others.
The steps of Self-Attestation:
- Make a photocopy of the original document requested.
- Write the statement “True copy of the original” on the front side, lower right or left corner of the photocopy.
- Sign below the statement.
- If multiple pages are attached, repeat the same procedure for each.
Here is how to add signature in PDF:
- Open the PDF file in Adobe Acrobat Reader.
- Now click on Fill & Sign in the Toolbar on the right.
- Then click on Sign, and then select Add Signature.
- A popup will open, giving you three options—Type, Draw, and Image.
- After creating your signature, click on the Apply button.
Someone can misuse your documents to open a bank account to defraud people. Fraudsters typically replace the details on the identity documents. For example, they can change pictures, address, etc. They can then use the Aadhaar, PAN Card or driving license to take a loan or open a bank account.
The photocopy of your PP can only be misused by a person by super imposing his photo on your photo in the Xerox copy and get another xerox copy to steal your identity but doing this requires a of expertise but doing this is fraught with many risks as DOB, Address and other details are difficult to change.
Your KYC documents can be used by someone to get a passport, or to open a bank account, or to even procure a loan. To open a bank account, you need to provide a photograph, an identification proof and an address proof. The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) calls them KYC or Know Your Customer documents.
Here is how to Lock your Aadhaar UID:
- Go to UIDAI website and open Resident portal Under Aadhaar Service.
- Click on Lock & Unlock.
- Select UID Lock Radio Button.
- Enter UID Number, Full Name, and Pin Code as in latest details and enter Security code.
- Click on Send OTP or select TOTP and click on submit.
