And it is secure—probably more secure than a cell phone. So the conundrum is that landlines are arguably more secure than cell phones, and picking up the telephone is an important security risk management tool, but landlines are becoming extinct.
Typically, you can seamlessly move your old landline number to your new phone and transfer any contacts without them knowing they are calling a different phone. Once you've checked your existing contract, all you need to initiate your switch to a cell phone is a copy of a recent bill from your current carrier.

There are two ways to pay BT line rental: Pay monthly for £20.20 a month. If you have a broadband and calls package this will be included in your package price. Pay £22.20 a month (or £2 extra if part of your broadband & calls package).
British Telecom is cutting by one hour the time 4.7 million phone users have to make landline-to-landline evening calls without charge. The telecoms giant will define evenings as anytime from 7pm from 1 April. At present, evenings start at 6pm (see the Cheap Home Phones guide).
BT Broadband can only be provided on a line on the BT network. BT Broadband connection and rental charges are included on your main BT bill. Your future bills will only include the usual advance charges (including any standard telephone rental and call charges), unless you have changed your broadband package.
