How to use a character Power Boost
- Load up Destiny 2.
- Select a new slot to create a character.
- Create the character.
- From the character select screen, select the icon beside the new character.
- Apply the Power Boost to level up the character.
- Select the new character and begin playing.
Destiny 2: Shadowkeep Character Boost
- Purchased at Character Select: The Shadowkeep Character Boost is purchased using Silver at the Character Select screen.
- Platform Availability: The Shadowkeep Character Boost is available for purchase in Destiny 2 on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC, and Stadia.

When Destiny 2 first launched, the maximum Power level at the time was 300. It has grown with every expansion since, maxing out at 950 with Shadowkeep, although 960 was achievable from Pinnacle Gear. Season of Dawn has bumped that up again, and the max level is now 960, and 970 with Pinnacle Gear.
The Character Boost can be purchased through the in-game shop, currently priced at $60/£40.
Included in the purchase of Destiny 2: Forsaken is a Power Boost that can be used on a newly created character to raise it from Level 1 and Power 100 up to the minimum requirements for playing the Forsaken campaign. Though it won't max out the Level and Power, it will raise it to Level 30 and Power 330.
Before you use the character level boost with the Spark of Light, you'll get the note that using it “may skip over certain campaigns.” For Forsaken, that means all the existing campaigns from base Destiny 2 and its DLC.
Copies of Destiny 2: Forsaken will come with a character boost — called a Spark of Light in Destiny — to help new players quickly level up and get right to the DLC, Bungie said in an interview with Mashable. The same is true with Forsaken.

The Destiny 2 base game has a light limit of 305. Curse of Osiris raised that to 330 but Warmind provided a more substantial jump with a cap of 380. However, Forsaken took a huge leap, raising the max light level to 600. Now when the update comes to pass, the default power level for everyone will be raised to a 750.
