One of the fastest-growing cities in the South, Cary is home to renowned restaurants, world-class shopping, booming business, top-tier entertainment, culture and arts and wide range of leisure and outdoor experiences.
The town is hilly, with a great deal of the undeveloped land blanketed in dense woods. Several creeks and small lakes appear in the area, particularly Lake Crabtree in the north. Cary is in the Humid Subtropical climate zone. Today's Cary began in 1750 as a settlement called Bradford's Ordinary.

While both Raleigh and Charlotte have excellent job opportunities and steadily rising incomes. However, Raleigh has better traffic and slightly higher prices across the board. It's an even tie in most senses of the word. Both of these cities are always worth a visit, especially if you love living it up Southern-style.

Simply put, Raleigh is pretty boring. In talking, I've found that describing Raleigh as boring isn't exactly controversial among peers, especially international students, of which NC State has many who are often used to bigger cities and/or warmer weather.
Wake had the largest non-Hispanic white population of any North Carolina county in 2018 (653,485) and the largest increase since 2017 (8,049). In 10 counties, the non-Hispanic white population was more than 90% of the total population in 2018. Madison had the highest percentage white (94%).
