This puts the TR3650 at an even higher estimated torque rating of about 525 ft/lbs and somewhere around 600 HP.

To identify your Ford Mustang transmission, you will want to locate the first number underneath the "TR" code at the bottom right hand corner of the door tag. The only number you need to pay attention to is the first number or letter listed. For TR codes that start with a K, you have a Mustang transmission TR-3650.

The T56 is the ticket. This six-speed wonder was designed and built by Borg-Warner originally, though manufacturing switched over to Tremec in 1998. In recent times, the T56 transmission has become synonymous with LS-powered Pro Touring builds, but it actually debuted in the 1992 Dodge Viper and 1993 Camaro Z/28.

V6 Mustangs were equipped with Tremec's T-5 transmission. This was one of the manual transmissions that Ford used for the longest period of time, and they're remarkably reliable even if they don't have a very beefy torque rating. The 2000 Mustang GT was equipped with a T-45 transmission.
Depends. 93 Stock T5, 400 hp beating the crap out of it for over 10 yrs with that hp.
The T5 is not for everyone, and it's certainly not suited for either big-block or nitrous use, but there are all kinds of uses not only for the T5, but also for its aftermarket performance derivatives like the Tremec 3550/TKO five-speeds that have now become the latest-generation Tremec TKO 500 and 600 boxes.
Later GM F-Body world-class versions of the T-5 used a lower 2.95:1 ratio gearbox and are the most sought-after for GM applications. The most important difference between the non-world class and the world-class transmissions is the torque rating. Later is better (or the higher the tag number).
If your doin a T 5 you need a mid late 80's mustang 302 bell (basically any bell older than a t5 will not bolt up the t5 has a funny pattern very different from a 3 or 4 speed tranny)make sure your flywheel is 157 tooth I was gonna use a truck flywheel but it won't fit the bell from a stang too many teeth.
While the 4 cylinder T5 may appear to be the same, they are not. Most 4 cylinder -5's received a 3.97 gear set with a . 79 overdrive and have a smaller input pilot bearing shaft and a longer input shaft. Four cylinder T5's should not be used behind a V-8, even when the pilot bearing id is decreased to match.
The overall length of the transmission in common Ford applications in is 31.6 inches, while the length from the front of the main housing to the output shaft is around 15.4 inches. The transmission is quite light, with reported weights being between 70 to 75 pounds.
The Borg Warner T5 is a five-speed, "toploading" transmission with a square waffle-pattern aluminum casing. A removable top cover, allowing access to the transmission identifies a "toploader." The T5 is illustrated on Motivegear.com's Domestic Truck Transmission Guide.
The T5 can be found behind: 1983 to 1993 Mustang LX and GT 5.0L V8. 1993 Mustang Cobra and Cobra R 5.0L V8. 1994 to 1995 Mustang GT and Cobra 5.0L V8.
The transmission is quite light, with reported weights being between 70 to 75 pounds. The transmission fluid capacity of the T5 is 2.8 quarts. The T5 transmission was a 5 speed manual transmission that was first produced in 1980 by Borg-Warner.
Registered. Look for a build tag on the tranny - usually attached to one of the bolts holding the tailshaft housing on. If it references T5-Z (Z is the important piece) then it's a World Class unit. If your speedo and tach are accurate enough, you could also check for the rpm drop on the 4 to 5 shift.
The Chevy version T5 WILL NOT bolt up to a Ford motor. The bolt pattern is different. The input shaft length is way different and the chevy version is canted 17* towards the drivers side.
The T-5 should hold up just fine in a light car. I used an aluminum bellhousing from a 1976 Nova. Virtually any bellhousing will work.

The Tremec 3550 ONLY came in 1995 Mustang Cobra R models with the 351W engine. I know of no other vehicle that came with it stock. This later became the TKO TKO 500 TKO 600. The 1996-1999 Mustang GT/Cobra used the T-45 trans which has a 4.6 bellhousing cast in and won't bolt straight up to a 5.0.
Transmissions and Mechanical Equipment
A transmission is found on a vehicle that needs the power to be transmitted from the engine (or motor) to the drive shaft that in turn transmits it to the driving wheels or propeller. A gearbox is the housing for the gears or the housing and the gears within the housing.
The NV3500 is manufactured for both four-wheel drive and two-wheel drive vehicles. The current NV3500 is found in full size GM trucks from 1988 and newer, S10 trucks from 1990 and newer, and Dodge Dakota V8 Ram trucks from 1994 and newer. The NV3500 is a five-speed manual transmission.
The Tremec TKO 5-speed is the transmission that started a revolution in manual overdrive conversions. The Tremec TKO is designed as a 4-speed replacement and will fit nearly any factory GM and Ford 4-speed bellhousing. The design of the input shaft also allows the use of the factory mechanical clutch linkage.
The Jeep T4 / T5 has a 23 spline output shaft for connecting to the transfer case input shaft. The transmission has a 7-1/2" input shaft (stick-out length) with a 1-1/8" x 10 splines for AMC I6 engines and a 1" x 14 spline for the AMC 2.5 I4 engine.
The Volkswagen Transporter T5 range is the fifth generation of Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles (VWCV/VWN) 'Transporter' series of medium-sized light commercial vehicles and the people mover Caravelle/Multivan range.
