A balcony may absolutely be worth it to you, but probably not if these are your primary reasons: 1) You're looking for a place to smoke. You can't smoke on cruise ship balconies. Guest demand has made most areas on most ships non-smoking, but in this case the reason is largely safety.
3) Are there set dining times on any of the Marella Cruise ships? All our ships' restaurants offer open dining, except for formal nights, when there are two fixed sittings. We recommend you book a specific time in the a la carte restaurants - you can do this when you arrive onboard by contacting reception.
Will I need to bring toiletries? We include a small bottle of shower gel, but beyond that you'll need to bring your own toiletries. If you forget anything, or don't fancy lugging everything with you, then the onboard shop sells anything you might need, from hairbrushes and tweezers to toothpaste and paracetamol.
Yes, Marella Discovery 2 has various designated Wi-Fi zones onboard. You can find out more information about these at reception plus charge costs. Any costs of using the onboard Wi-Fi will be charged to your onboard account.
3) Is there a dress code onboard my Marella Cruise? Put your sportswear away, and opt for trousers, smart tailored shorts or a skirt or dress, a shirt or polo shirt and smart shoes, so no trainers or flip flops.
Do Marella Cruises Have Formal Nights? Yes. Once a week there is a formal night of sorts, this is often called the dress to impress night and provides an opportunity for guests to dress up should they want to. They dress code doesn't apply to all restaurants and guests not wanting to take part don't have to.
There is one formal night per cruise and, despite Marella Cruises operating more relaxed dress codes, passengers still like to dress up. On formal nights, men require a dinner jacket or tuxedo and women a cocktail or evening dress.
In the evening, you'll need to follow the smart casual dress code. For men, that means full-length trousers and a polo or open-necked shirt – but on Marella Discovery 1 and Marella Discovery 2, and Marella Explorer 1 and Marella Explorer 2, you can swap trousers for smart tailored shorts.
It usually takes place on the evening of the day at sea. On Marella Discovery, Marella Discovery 2, Marella Explorer and Marella Explorer 2 we've replaced the formal night with a more casual dress to impress night, it's still a great chance to get dressed up, but how dressy you go is completely up to you.
To use your cell phone on your cruise, you have two options — either connect to the ship's cellular service or connect to the ship's wi-fi. Both will cost you extra. Today's modern cruise ships use services such as “Cellular at Sea” or “Wireless Maritime Services”. There are service providers for cell signal.
For poolside and beachy ports, ships furnish the towels. You'll find them stashed by the pool, or handed out as you head off the ship.
