The Nike Vaporfly has already taken over the marathon world
In 2019, runners wearing Vaporflys claimed 31 out of the 36 male and female podium spots in the six biggest marathons around the world. The three medalists in the men's marathon at the 2016 Summer Olympics all wore a Vaporfly prototype.Sprinters will wear sprint spikes. Spike shoes are used in most athletics events to help with grip, and as the name suggests they literally have spikes on the bottom. These spikes can differ in size, shape and placement depending on the event.

Bobbi Gibb was the first woman to finish the race in 1966, while Nina Kuscsik was the first official winner in 1972. Since 1990, the Boston Marathon has been ineligible for world records, as the start and finish are too far away from each other, and the race is a net downhill.
The cost is $295 for non-members, and $358 for foreign runners. First-place male and female winners of this year's race will receive a $100,000 prize, with second-place winners taking home $60,000, and third-place winners taking home $40,000. There is a total of $825,000 in prize money.
Due to the coronavirus pandemic, the 2020 Boston Marathon was rescheduled from April 20 to September 14. On May 28, 2020, the marathon was cancelled. In its place, the BAA announced plans to have a virtual race so that the tradition can continue in a safe manner.
