Aurora is one of the oldest ships in the P&O Cruises fleet (it was launched in 2000), and came out a much-needed £26 million refurbishment at the end of 2014 as the first to carry the new livery, featuring a contemporary version of the Union Flag on its bow, and a blue funnel.
The transformation will take place next spring after a refit of the traditional mid-sized vessel which entered service in 2000. The 1,874-passenger Aurora will return from its March 2019 refit as an adult-only ship. The vessel will join Arcadia and Oriana as ships exclusively for adults from April 8, 2019.
The Aurora has a gross tonnage of 76,152, a net tonnage of 40,037t and a deadweight of 64,450t. The Aurora has a maximum passenger capacity of 2,290. It can accommodate 1,878 passengers in its 939 cabins, 69% of which are located outside.

Introducing Iona, P&O Cruises' largest ever ship. Launching in 2020, P&O Cruises' Iona will be not only the largest ship in the fleet, with the capacity for 5,200 guests, but also the largest ship ever built for the British market.
Summary: Just returned from the Caribbean on this ship. Summary: Transatlantic to the Caribbean 28th October: Azura is looking tired now and to only 9 years old as well. Entertainment was the best I have seen and the food was excellent however there seemed a general low moral amongst the St app especially at the bars.
Don't skip formal night – REPEAT: DO NOT SKIP FORMAL NIGHT! Gone, for the most part, are the days of tuxedos and ball gowns on “formal night.” There are still cruise lines that require formal wear, including sports jackets for men on formal night. However, in general, cruising has become more casual.
The room steward (or stewardess) is the person who cleans your cruise cabin and assists you with anything you might need while in your cabin. The industry standard for tipping the room steward is $3.50 per person per day, given on the last day of the cruise.
Jeans and baseball caps are not allowed in the restaurants for dinner. On informal nights, jackets (ties optional) for men are recommended, while women opt for dresses or pantsuits. Tuxedos, dinner jackets or dark suits for men and gowns or cocktail dresses for women are suggested for formal nights.
Depending on your cruise location and duration you will find a mix of 3 dress codes on Azura, they are smart casual, semi-formal and formal. After 6pm the ship switches to the dress code of the day (one of those three).
The big overall difference in the two ships to us is that Azura feels a little more modern than Ventura but Ventura typically feels warmer, cosier, and friendlier (Metropolis notwithstanding).
For touring and active excursions in port, sneakers, sturdy walking shoes or hiking boots are suitable. You may also want sneakers for the onboard gym. At night, women should wear comfortable heals, sandals or flats; boat and dress shoes are good choices for men.
Arcadia offers a raft of attractive facilities including excellent entertainment and top-notch speciality dining to appeal to P&O's mature and predominantly British passengers who rate style, ambience and a relaxed atmosphere over gimmicks and adrenaline-fuelled activities.
