The Secretary is responsible for Club records and correspondence. The role involves all administrative details between the club and Toastmasters, and keeping the club's documents available and up-to-date. The Secretary also records and reads the meeting minutes, for meetings of the club and of the Executive team.
As Toastmaster, you: Acquire a meeting agenda from your vice president education. Work with the General Evaluator to ensure all club participants know their roles and responsibilities. Introduce speakers during the club meeting, including their speech topic, project title, objectives, delivery time, etc.
Duties Sergeant at Arms. The Club Sergeant at Arms keeps track of the club's physical property, such as the banner, lectern, timing device and other meeting materials. For example, the sergeant at arms escorts potential new members outside of the club's meeting place while the members vote on admitting them to the club

Toastmasters is a wonderfull organzation for practicing and rehearsing your public speaking skills, however if you have a SERIOUS fear of public speaking Toastmasters will not be the right fit for you.
A pyramid scheme is one in which the single pillar of its business model is to have each customer (or member) go out and subscribe more members. The Toastmasters's business is marketing. Toastmasters organizes its clubs worldwide according to a hierarchy, with divisions, districts and areas.
While I can't recommend a Toastmasters club enough for its ability to help increase your self-confidence, your poise, your communication & leadership skills and in time a reduction of one's shyness, it isn't an automatic effect of joining a club. They are learning on the job as they practice servant leadership.

Anyone who is 18 and over can join Toastmasters. To do so, you will join a local club and pay dues. All Toastmasters clubs are designed to be encouraging.
