Speaking of the app, you must use an Android or iOS device with the Google Home app to set up your mesh network. The standard Google Wifi is a capable dual-band router with speeds up to AC1200. This is more than enough for most users but it's worth keeping in mind that the Nest Wifi router is faster at AC2200.
For starters, Google Wifi is an AC1200 mesh system, which means that the combined top speeds of its 2.4 and 5GHz bands is 1,200 Mbps. With Nest Wifi, that speed rating jumps up to AC2200, so between the 2.4 and 5GHz bands, you're getting a more capable access point.
Nest Wifi points have a speaker with the Google Assistant, so you can play music, manage your Wi-Fi network, find answers, control your connected devices, and more using just your voice. Note: The Nest Wifi router does not include a speaker or Google Assistant.

If you're attempting to set up your speaker or display on 5GHz WiFi connection, your mobile device must support 5GHz. Note: If it is broadcasting, it will be listed in your available networks on the device being used to complete setup. If it's not listed, move to the troubleshooting section below for hidden networks.

Using the Google WiFi app, you can tell your Google WiFi to shut down at specific times in your daily schedule, like "Bedtime" or "Homework." When the time comes, the router will pause the internet just for the devices you tell it to, making sure that keeping your kids off the internet won't stop you from working.
The Google Wifi and Nest Wifi devices do not collect the content of any communications.
While you cannot completely prevent exposure to Radio Frequency waves, you can keep it to the minimum. And one of the absolute best ways to dramatically reduce your exposure is to turn off wifi at night. For many homes, turning off your router or disabling the Wi-Fi doesn't really affect much because you're sleeping.
For example, on some Comtrend routers, go to Advanced Setup > Wireless > Basic and turn off the Enable Wireless toggle switch. On many Linksys routers, disable Wi-Fi as part of the Wireless Basic Settings by changing the Wireless Network Mode to OFF.
