The base games are never as good as the entire series before them, and it's mainly due to the fact that you've just played a game with 12+ expansion and stuff packs, and then moved on to a boring, "vanilla" base game.

To start with, try restarting your Origin as an administrator, launch the game, then go to Offline mode and try to launch again.The Sims 4 was released 4 years later than The Sims 3, it had access to better engines and better overall capabilities.
