Universities may offer special reductions for alumni, so check with individual providers.

It does matter where you do your PGCE as that is the area in which schools and tutors work together to match jobs to trainees. I think the figure for us runs at around 70% of our trainees find jobs at our partnership schools. Probably around 30% find jobs at schools where they are placed.

Study the right course
- Study a four year teaching degree that has ITE approval.
- Study a double degree, which is two degrees at the same time.
To be a qualified language teacher you need to have completed either:
- a four year Bachelor of Education (primary or secondary); or.
- a minimum three year bachelor degree related to the language you intend to teach followed by a Graduate Diploma or Master of Teaching which includes language units.
The only visa pathway you can apply is via Employer Sponsored Visa. So, if you are a primary school teacher, you would require a school in Australia to sponsor your work visa.
Beginning a teaching career at 40 can present some challenges, but it is not impossible. If you already have a degree, you may be able to transfer some of your college hours to your new professional choice and decrease the number of classes you must take to receive your teaching credentials.
To become a secondary teacher, you will need to complete at least four years of tertiary study at a recognised university or higher education institution. Your studies will need to include an accredited teacher education program and adequate study of the subject(s) you would like to teach.
