What does FedEx mean by the end of day? As the name suggests, End of day means that deliveries are made at the end of FedEx business days. Similarly, FedEx home delivery does not include Sundays, Monday, and holidays.
Why? Because FedEx doesn't store packages, and the longest time in transit for a Ground package is 7 business days, and that's not between places that you can drive between in 8 hours. Once FedEx has possession of the package, they will tell you when it will be delivered based on the service level paid for.
Basically, FedEx Ground includes only Monday to Friday delivery unless you pay extra for Saturday delivery while Home Delivery offers a Saturday delivery option at no extra charge.
An exception occurs when a package is temporarily delayed while in transit. Every effort is made to deliver every package as soon as possible, so an exception does not necessarily denote a late shipment. In many cases, delivery is re-attempted the next day.
