The Barneys Warehouse sale is offering a 70% clearance sale currently on designer clothing, shoes and jewelry. And online sales of luxury items are slated to grow at twice the market rate capturing 18% of all sales revenue by 2023, according to Statista's Luxury Goods Report.
Regardless of whether its existing stores stay, Authentic Brands plans to put a number of Barneys stores inside Saks, the person said. While both are luxury stores, Barneys is considered the hipper cousin to Saks.
Barneys continued to falter as a result of lost foot traffic, skyrocketing rent, and competition from e-commerce. In August 2019, the luxury retailer filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy. The company also announced it would close 15 of its 22 stores as it worked on restructuring and refinancing the beleaguered brand.
A cultural touchstone for generations of New Yorkers and followers of fashion, Barneys filed for bankruptcy protection in August, citing rent hikes as a factor. Authentic Brands, which bid roughly $271 million for Barneys, said it will turn the Madison Avenue location into a pop-up store.

Bloomingdale's sells designer handbags, shoes, clothing, jewelry, makeup and fragrances. The Bloomingdale's shopper is up on the latest trends and designer fashion.
