Some will jump on that person and ban them, others will just ignore it. Reporting something to the admins (actual employees of reddit.com, unlike the subreddit mods) is different though. But if they do get involved, they can issue a sitewide ban for that person, among other things.
It's flagged for the mods when they check the reported queue. Cheers mate. Some sub reddits will have it set up in such a way that if a comment gets multiple reports all of the mods will get a message saying it has been reported. Otherwise it goes to the modque and they will deal with it when they get around to it.
You can still report the usernames in reddit.com/report. Also might want to put throwaway protection on via automod. Plus, if someone is circumventing bans, you can report them via reddit.com/report and the admins can investigate.

reddit.com/report them for harassment (or click the Report button on the DM itself).
You can't report offensive usernames. Quit being over sensitive. By being so easily upset, you give these people exactly what they are looking for - a reaction. It's just a username.
How do I block someone?
- On the iOS or Android app, tap on the person's username.
- On the web, visit Safety & Privacy in your User Settings.
- If you're chatting with someone, you can also click on the Settings gear icon, then select Block.
You can contact the admins by either sending a message (modmail) to r/reddit.com (not r/reddit) or by sending an email to contact@reddit.com.
If you have general questions about your personal Reddit account, please reach out to our Help Center and include your Reddit username. Reports are full anonymous. None of that information is visible to mods. Moderators cannot see who voted on what, but admins can see that info. So if abuse is reported, again that user could be banned.
"Reddit admins" refers to the group of paid employees who work for Reddit. This is a very seperate role from the volunteer moderator position, though sometimes the two groups have to work in conjunction to troubleshoot site issues or come up with solutions to systemic problems.
For a range of advice requests, the most general advice subreddit is r/Advice. The subreddit "is a place where you can ask for advice on any subject" and currently has over 365,000 members.
If you have questions for the moderators of a community, it's best to contact them through Modmail instead of through a private message or chat. To send a message via Modmail on the web, click the message the moderators link under the moderators section on the right side of the community you're visiting.
Moderators are allowed to run a subreddit as they wish. The only way a moderator would be removed is if they are inactive, or if they break sitewide rules. If they are inactive across reddit (not just in this subreddit), you can request it at r/redditrequest.
