The card gives holders free bus travel in Scotland and, through the Strathclyde Concessionary Travel Scheme, reduced fares on trains and Subway in the Strathclyde area. To qualify for one of these types of NEC you must live in Scotland and be disabled or aged 60 or over.
Where you can use your pass. You can travel for free anywhere in England, including London on local bus services. It's not valid for journeys within Scotland or Wales. Free travel is not available on tourist buses or coach services like megabus.com and National Express.
We have Travel Centres within the Bus Stations in Glasgow, Dundee, Aberdeen, Inverness and Edinburgh and in the Tourist Information Centre in Edinburgh. You can also buy your ticket direct from the coach driver for most services, although we can't promise that the coach will have seats available!
A: In most cases, yes. PLUSBUS tickets are tickets for your train journey with a bus add-on at the start and/or the end of your journey. You will need to purchase these with your train tickets when buying train tickets online or at a ticket counter.
Where you can use your pass. You can travel for free on all local bus and coach services anywhere in Scotland. Your National Entitlement Card is valid on services to and from Carlisle and on services to and from Berwick-upon-Tweed from anywhere in Scotland.
In order to make the application process as smooth as possible, you will need:
- a completed application form (not all local authorities require this, check with yours to confirm the process in your area)
- a recent passport type photograph.

What is PlusBus? PlusBus is discount price bus pass you buy with your train ticket. Buy PlusBus to start your journey (to get to a rail station) or to complete your journey (from station to your final destination). There's no peak hour restrictions, so you can hop-on and off buses and trams as much as you like all day.
Re: Getting around without a car?? You can certainly use trains and Scottish Citylink buses and a car is not needed while you are in Glasgow or Edinburgh. However if you want to see Skye ,the West Coast and the Highlands a car is almost a necessity. You will quickly get used to driving here.

You should buy a ZoneCard which covers all of the Zones you will need to travel in. The minimum number of Zones you can buy is two. If you buy thirteen Zones or more, your ZoneCard automatically covers all Zones in the ZoneCard area (six Zones or more for Juvenile cards).

Contactless is a simple and secure way to pay for bus travel without needing cash. Look for the contactless symbol on your credit, debit or pre-paid cards. Most new cards are issued with this feature, however, if you're not sure whether your card is contactless enabled please check with your bank or card issuer.
Can a Visitor Oyster card or Oyster card be used in other cities like Bath, Edinburgh, Stratford-upon-Avon, Oxford and Cambridge? No, it is only eligible for travel on public transport in London.

No food or drink may be consumed while travelling on the Company's buses. Hot drinks must be carried in a sealed container.
You can pay by cash or use your contactless debit or credit card, Apple Pay or Android Pay to pay for your journey. Airlink buses depart from directly outside Domestic Arrivals at Edinburgh Airport and from Waverley Bridge in the City Centre.
Some of the reasons why a card may not work include: Your card hasn't been approved by the bank for the transaction. You haven't used your card as a chip and pin before. Your mobile device has not been set up correctly to use Apple Pay or Google Pay or you are not using the Apps to support the payment properly.
A pay as you go adult fare is £1.50 with a contactless payment, Oyster, or Visitor Oyster card. If you make another bus or tram journey within an hour of touching in on a bus or tram, your second journey will be free. UK issued contactless payment cards are accepted, just look out for the contactless symbol.
